THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS
AMAZING YEAR AT KAWKAWA!
WE ARE SO BLESSED!
I was looking for a bible verse that
would say Thank You. I couldn’t
decide on just one!
Psalm 105:1 Oh give thanks to
the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the
peoples!
Acts 24:3 In every way and everywhere,
we accept this with all
gratitude
Psalm 107:1 Oh give thanks to
the Lord, for he is good, for his
steadfast love endures forever!
Psalm 66:3 Say to God, “How
awesome are your deeds! So great
is your power.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 Rejoice
always, pray without ceasing, give
thanks in all circumstances.
Our greatest blessing is YOU - our
volunteers. YOU are invaluable
and we are where we are because
of YOU. Work day volunteers,
fund raisers, summer camp, retreat,
maintenance and project volunteers.
THANK YOU, THANK
YOU, THANK YOU for YOU!
Romans 8:28 And we know that
for those who love God all things
work together for good, for those
who are called according to his
purpose. THANK YOU!
“Giving is true having.”
THANK YOU, THANK YOU,
THANK YOU for your very
generous hearts throughout 2015.
Your personal donations, corporate
donations/discounts, Gifts in
Kind, The Lumberyard Fund, and
special project donations. At
Kawkawa we seek to be used by
God to transform hearts. We also
seek to grow and steward the
physical resources God has
provided. It is because of YOU
that this tangible side of Kawkawa
also continues to move forward;
the physical renovation and
building of Kawkawa for the
future. THANK YOU for your
love, support, and generosity to
this amazing little camp that God
has brought back to life.
Kawkawa is currently looking
for a Cook. If you are interested,
or know someone who might be,
please phone Wayne at
1 866 545 9359
In the interim we would like to
contact people might be able to
fill in on some weekends during
the next couple of months. Again
if you are interested or know of
someone, please contact Wayne.

Our Ladies Craft Weekend was a blast! This was one crazy group of women! On Saturday night they dressed up in
costumes from our costume closet, divided into two groups for a quilt sewing competition. The weekend was full
of laughter, fellowship, card making, scrap booking, and as always, some amazing food. Thank you Masa and
your team.
Creative inspiration could be found
throughout the Kawkawa “Chronic
Crafters” Ladies’ Retreat. From the
room and table decorations to the
artistic food presentation, creativity
was in the cool fall air. The theme,
Fearfully and Wonderfully Created
to Create, was embodied in the
amazing women who came for a
long weekend. Quilting, clothes sewing,
card-making, rug hooking,
clothing up-cycling, gift making,
hiking, reading, picture taking and
jewellery making were some of the
undertakings of the women attending
the three full days. The intergenerational
knowledge was a benefit to
both the more mature crafters, for
example, with hands-on directions
on Skyping with their iPhones and
the younger crafters who were able
to soak up creative masters’ deep
knowledge of various traditional arts
such as sewing braided rugs
together. Peers discussed issues of
repairing sentimental quilts.
Women were using their voices for
sharing, advice giving, laughter,
story-telling and only quieted them
to use their hearts for listening with
mugs of warm apple-cranberry cider,
a vast selection of tea and coffee.
A highlight of the weekend was the
Jelly Roll Race. With full bellies of
roast beef, two teams were given a
roll of fabric and the chance to make
a quilt top to be donated to the
Union Gospel Mission. Team names
were chosen, costumes were dug out
of the camp closet, and bobbins were
filled. The first quilt was finished
under an hour. The second quilt took
a bit longer. It may have been the
lively discussion, singing and
“cheerleading” that distracted this
group. Yet, two beautiful and masterfully
sewn quilt tops were created.
Coral has brought them back to be
put together and quilted by her
church group, Busy Hands.
www.kawkawa.com
The ladies were generous with their
knowledge, talents and finances.
With June Isaac's gentle and encouraging
instruction, six receiving
blankets were sewn. June generously
donated the fabric and thread, the
ladies generously donated their time
and now six needy newborns in
Abbotsford will be wrapped in a
blanket made with love. The talents
of some camp men, cutting and drilling
logs to form tea light holders as
table centres, were sold at the end
and $160 was generously donated
back to the camp to buy Bibles for
campers.
Before the weekend was over, the
ladies had already figured out that
next year the holiday would fall on a
Friday. They have since put it into
their calendars. This event of
creating, laughter, relaxation, and
even a few tears, in God's own
creation, is not to be missed.

WINTER HAPPENINGS
Over the winter, in between group coming and going,
we hope to paint all the cottages inside, paint and
re-carpet the Dogwood rooms, and possibly tile the
bathroom floors and new toilets for the Dogwood. The
mattress upgrading will also continue. In the last 3
weeks of November, all 4 bathrooms and shower stalls
in the cottages have been re-tiled. They look amazing!
THANK YOU to the volunteers and donations that
made this project happen.
We are also in the process of up grading and
restructuring our website over the winter. So stay
tuned.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-17
THANK YOU SO MUCH, it was another awesome weekend, we
were super blessed and had a great time as always!
We had a number of breakthroughs with students, both
relationally and spiritually... such a great kick off to our year, as
it has been for the past few years.
One story to pass along: We had a student who had been
attending youth for the past year, an exchange student who had
said that he only believed in science, that there was no God, but
that he would like to continue attending since he enjoyed the
community. That weekend, he had an experience with God on the
Saturday night around the camp fire and he felt His presence.
For him it was unmistakable, where he once believed there was
no God, his world was shaken by God's presence. The following
week I met with Him and we walked through the Christian
faith... He said 'I felt God but now I'm getting to know Him'
Since that weekend we've met a few times, as he walks through
the gospels and gets to know this God that is now so real to Him.
Wanted to say thanks again for taking care of all of the details of
food, lodging and providing an opportunity for God to work. So
cool to be a part of what God is doing...
With all of that, I was wondering if we could punch our ticket for
the same weekend next year? Would that work?
Thanks
I have been working at Kawkawa for 3 years now and over the
3 years that I have been here I have been able to see Kawkawa
grow in so many ways. The first year that I was at Kawkawa we
had an average of maybe 30-40 kids a week. For Senior Teens,
our high school group, we had around 15 kids signed up. This
year our average weeks had around 50-60 kids and we had 76
teens come to our Senior Teen camp! More and more kids are
coming to Kawkawa and they keep coming back.
I think that one of the most fun things about Kawkawa is seeing
kids you met last year come back for another week at camp.
Kawkawa is a smaller camp, but it means that you get the
opportunity to meet almost all the kids by the end of the week.
I think that I would have loved to have been a camper at
Kawkawa because each kid who comes is treated and loved as
an individual. All the staff know your name which makes you
feel so special.
Another way that Kawkawa is growing is in the staff. People
who were on work crew the first year I was here, washing
dishes and cleaning, are now becoming assistant counsellors,
doing the LIT program and sharing their faith with the campers.
I could talk about each of our staff members and point to a
specific way that I think they have grown over the years that I
have known them. God is working in the lives of out staff.
I am always excited to spend time at Kawkawa and I am
excited to see what God has planned for the future growth of
Kawkawa.
-Robyn Frers (Chickadee)
Please search your hearts and make a
year end donation and help Kawkawa to
keep moving in forward. We would be so
grateful for donations to the Rita Lihaven
Memorial Fund (camper bursaries), the
Lumberyard Fund (general repair and
maintenance), or the Building Fund. It’s
easy to do this, just go to our website at
www.kawkawa.com and click on the
donate button (top right hand corner) or
mail a cheque to Kawkawa Camp.
Thank You so much for your generosity!
Merry Christmas
and God’s blessings
throughout the
