My STORY
“I was like a lot of other kids when I graduated from high school.
I didn’t know what I wanted, but I thought I needed to go to
college. I wasn’t ready for a four-year commitment,
so I went away to another community college.
But that school wasn’t a good fit for me. I came
back home. I worked for awhile before I enrolled
in SUNY Orange’s early childhood education program. But, I just
wasn’t passionate about that either. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to
do. As I got to know my professors, we talked about my interests
and talents. They opened my eyes to other possibilities and
suggested that I think about engineering. Now, I’ve discovered
my true passion. I’ve developed an even stronger bond with
my professors, and the students in the engineering program
are all very close. We help each other as much as possible. I’ve
accomplished more in the last year than I ever thought possible.
When I graduate from SUNY Orange, I plan to transfer to a fouryear
school. I don’t know where I’d be today if SUNY Orange had
not been here for me. The College has allowed me to discover
myself, at my own pace. And it has helped me plan for
my future. Now I know what I want.

New Media
Program
Students seeking to enter the fields
of video, audio or digital film production
should consider SUNY Orange’s
New Media degree program. You
will be immersed in all elements of
the creative, editing and production
processes related to today’s audio
and video professions. The course
sequence is rich with new courses
in cinematography, digital storytelling,
screenwriting, sound design, TV
studio production and video effects.
Graduates will be proficient in visual
composition using different forms of
digital media such as video, photography,
web design and art.

Over the past three years, SUNY Orange has been awarded
nearly $3 million in federal grant funding from the U.S.
Department of Education to help students remain enrolled
and complete their degree.
With that money, the College has restructured its student
services programs into a comprehensive “one-stop” center
called Student Services Central. The College has also rolled
out MySUNYOrange, the online access point for students to
use web-enabled support services, review student records
and utilize online learning tools.
In the coming months, the College will unveil a program to
support the efforts of low-income first generation students
and students with disabilities. The “Student Success
Project” will feature a proactive advising approach that
includes a wide range of specialized services.
Financial Aid
In order to receive Federal Financial Aid, students must
meet the following requirements:
• Qualify to be admitted into the College by supplying
valid high school transcripts or a GED
• Be enrolled in a degree program (federal and state
laws require that the courses you take must apply to
your degree program)
• Submit Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
documentation to the Wellness Center
• Maintain good attendance record (excessive absence
may cause financial aid to be reduced or eliminated)
• Maintain Federal and State Satisfactory Academic

My STORY
“I had some friends come to SUNY Orange and they told me good
things about the College and the professors. I’m in my second year
studying cyber security. My goal is to get a job with the federal
government. The atmosphere here is nice, the teachers are very
helpful and I feel like the College will put me on the right path so
that I can get a great job after I graduate.”

The SUNY Orange Honors Program
