A Year Of Change
CHAIRMANS OVERVIEW
2015 saw ICA celebrate 30 years of football and will be marked as a landmark year for the club as the
attitude and focus of the club changed to build a sustainable future.
The previous two years of adult football had placed a substantial strain on the club and therefore the club’s
priorities needed to be re-aligned and a new vision created.
In 2014 the club committee decided that a clear and strong focus on youth football was required to
complement the single ICA Foxes U13 Elite Development squad and to provide a long-term feed of
talented players that could be coached to play the ICA way from primary years.
The following pages will provide a synopsis of our activities and developments in 2015 and the club
committee & myself would like to thank all the players, coaches, managers, parents and sponsors that
have enabled us to make such a difference in 2015.
Yours In Football
A Year Of Change
ICA MALE ADULT FOOTBALL
This had been the main focus of the club with an array of teams established throughout the Saturday and
Sunday leagues; however it soon became apparent that this growth had created multiple teams rather
than a football family.
The difficult decision was therefore made to streamline the club’s adult offering to provide more of a club
approach with the management of each of our squads starting to work much more closely together.
Our first team is now stable under the command of Hamish Curtis & Gus Hepburn and sitting in the right
third of the PDFL Premier Division. With a new playing home for 2016 at Jubilee Park and the real
possibility of promotion in the 2016/17 season, our first team has never been in better shape.
ICA YOUTH FOOTBALL
2015 saw a fresh new approach to youth football with the introduction of an Under-7 League team playing
in the Peterborough District Junior Alliance. With Arron Coulson & Lee Osbourne working hard to develop
a team of players with good technical ability who will benefit from their work as they head into
competitive football in a few years.
Under-5 and Under-6 squads followed with Raph Frascogna, Kenny Macdonald, Craig Robinson and Liam
Gallagher helping to develop the many young players that are now learning to play the ICA way.
For the 2016/17 season we will see Under-5 and Under-6 squad running, both of which offer an
opportunity for un-trialled entry to the Leicester City FC Player Development Centre that runs in
Peterborough.
In addition, two Under-7 and two Under-8 squads will be participating in regular league football and other
age groups will be considered if a suitable management team and playing squad can be found to
compliment the profile of the club.
ICA FOXES ELITE DEVELOPMENT FOOTBALL
We are proud to be working in association with Leicester City FC player recruitment on our ICA Foxes
program.
This year we have seen James Horwood expand our ICA Foxes section to three teams with Under-13,
Under-14 and Under-15 squads. Benefitting from advanced coaching sessions they have the opportunity to
complement their club football with competitive games against several professional club’s Development
Centre and Academy Teams, including Leicester City, Norwich City, Cambridge United, Doncaster Rovers
and Peterborough United.
We see this service as vital to local youth football as players that qualify to join our ICA Foxes Squads can
play local club football with their friends on a weekly basis but also train with a squad of talented players
to enhance their technical ability. Trials for our 2016/17 ICA Foxes will run in August 2016 for those joining
Under-13, Under-14, Under-15 and Under-16 teams for the 2016/17 season.

A Year Of Change
FEMALE FOOTBALL AT ICA
Female Football was thrust into the news headlines following the outstanding performance of the England
Lionesses at the World Cup in 2015 and ICA Sports FC are pioneering the development of female football in
Peterborough.
Step one of our development plan was the drafting of a 16-page Female Football Development Plan and
Steve Purnell, Development Director, is overseeing the club’s activities and has a been a vital catalyst for us
to achieve our ambition of becoming the primary local stewards of female football.
Our work in the female football field did not go un-noticed and has resulted in ICA Sports FC being
appointed as the Arsenal Ladies Club Associate in Peterborough. As a trusted partner of Arsenal Ladies we
will be organising a range of activities in 2016 in association with Arsenal Ladies.
ICA FEMALE YOUTH FOOTBALL
We headed into 2015 with a plan to set-up a single Under-9 Girls squad to establish our girls football
section in the 2015/16 season. However the media coverage of the England Lionesses success at the FIFA
World Cup soon captured the imagination of the nation and as word spread of the work we were doing,
things began to pick up.
As the 2014/15 season drew to an end several players were left with no team and Shaun Harley agreed to
set-up an Under-12 Girls team at ICA to provide an opportunity for these players. Soon after, Tash
Applegate agreed to establish an Under-10 Girls team.
The growing demand for football at the younger age groups soon picked up and to cater for the demand an
Under-8 Development squad was also introduced, allowing us to accommodate girls from Reception right
through to School Year 7.
Popularity of the female game continues to grow and we hope to offer further opportunities in 2016.
ICA FEMALE ADULT FOOTBALL
Another key aspect of the ICA Female Football Development Plan was the establishment of a female adult
team. After speaking to the S-Tech Cambridgeshire Women’s league we were granted a place in their
Premier League.
The sole objective for this team was to simply maintain the Premier League status. Training started in
August 2015 under the command of Matt Moore & Stu Afford with a handful of players turning out and as
the summer moved on the team started to take shape.
As the season progressed the team started to bond and results improved. We moved into 2016 with some
confidence of a top three finish and see a very promising future for female football at the club.
