So you might be asking what makes T-Tape so unique? 

First there are the number of inlets in every emitter in T-Tape. These small inlets, built directly into the tape, work like microfilters 

to help stop contaminants entering the emitter. But because it’s T-Tape, it doesn’t just have a few inlets, T-Tape has up to 

211 inlets per emitter! So even if a few get blocked, the tape still keeps going due to the extreme excess redundancy built into 

every single emitter. 

Still not convinced? How about the reverse chevron flow track? Not just a couple of fancy words, this specially engineered 

section keeps the water turbulent and solids in suspension to help prevent the tape from blocking. 

Plus, there is the icing on the cake… the knife cut outlet. Instead of laser/hole cut, which some of our (cough!) competitors use, the 

knife cut provides a precision incision that closes on shut-off. This makes it hard for dirt to get in, helping to protect your system.

QUALITY – BECAUSE COMPROMISE IS NOT AN OPTION 

Our quality assurance team are very, very serious people! Although they may not be the life of the party (sorry guys!), 

their over-the-top attention to detail is what you need for making top quality tape. 

Every 4,500 m of T-Tape we manufacture undergoes a computerised flow test, labyrinth fluid path and inlet check, adhesion test 

and burst test? Told you... serious testing. 

Then because it is your crop (and livelihood) on the line, before dispatching any roll, a second qualified operator must recheck 

and sign off every T-Tape roll manufactured. 

I LIKE BIG ROLLS & I CANNOT LIE. .. 

T-Tape is now available on 570 mm discs, enabling rolls to be 30% on average 

longer than standard T-Tape. Make installation easier with fewer joiners, fewer 

changeovers while laying with Big Boy Rolls T-Tape. 

Caution: Big Boy Rolls weigh more than standard T-Tape rolls. Weights are specified 

in the product tables. You may need a couple of big boys to lift Big Boy Rolls.

CLOSE DRIPPER SPACING 

Make the best decision for your crops, without the concern of increased costs. 

Correct spacing between each drip emitter can make a big difference. Early drip irrigation systems used drippers spaced at 

40+ cm intervals. However, this practice has generally been superseded by closer dripper spacing of 10–30 cm intervals due to 

the need for more uniform crops and better irrigation system efficiencies. 

The benefits of closer dripper spacing are numerous, but are all related to more effective water movement. When irrigating, you 

want water to move laterally, not deep down through the soil profile where it is either lost (including any fertilisers added) or 

is harder for plants to uptake. By keeping drippers spaced at close intervals, water flows laterally quicker, ensuring a continued 

wet strip along the row. 

A great thing is when you use T-Tape, closer dripper spacing intervals do not need to come at an extra cost. Because Rivulis T-Tape 

has emitters manufactured into the tape itself, as opposed to inserted molded drippers, there is no cost difference per metre 

between 10 drippers per metre (10 cm spacing) and two drippers per metre (50 cm spacing). 

T-Tape helps make your choice of dripper interval spacing an agronomic decision, not one based on your bank account. 

Use close emitter spacing for better crops & system efficiency 

Getting your flow & spacing right 

A handy rule of thumb — the freer draining the soil, the closer 

the emitter spacing needs to be. Therefore in sand, you would 

want a relatively close emitter spacing. On the other hand, 

in clay, the water will move further laterally allowing you to 

use wider drippers. However, keep dripper intervals relatively 

close to maximise efficiency of your system, regardless of soil.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT ONE? 

What is mil wall 

thickness? 

A mil is an old-school term that 

means one thousandth of an inch. 

So 6 mil wall thickness means the 

tape is 6 thousandths of an inch 

thick. 

When it comes to tape, sometimes 

it is good to be thick! Greater wall 

thickness means the tape will last 

longer and is more suited for longterm 

use, or where there is high 

risk of external damage. 

Want to go thicker than 15 mil? We 

have products for that. However, 

for most tape applications 

(especially sub-surface), 15 mil is 

the most you will need. 

6 mil wall thickness (NZ translation: Sucks mul wall thickness bro) 

For 6 mil, you want well-cultivated soils where chewing insects are minimal. Generally you 

will be using this for single cropping only. Often used for sweet potatoes, onions and lettuce. 

8 mil wall thickness 

With 8 mil you’ve got a bit more strength, making this one of our most popular tapes for 

strawberries, melons and vegetable crops. 


If you’ve got heavy soil and a few insects that fancy a bit of tape, then 10 mil tape will be what 

you’re chasing. A great tape for beans, corn, melons and vegetable crops. 


Looking to re-use your tape or grow for multiple seasons, or have chewy insect problems? 

Then 12 mil tape is a minimum requirement. You will find 12 mil in sugar cane, cotton and 

other sub-surface applications. 


Bring out the big guns with 15 mil tape. This is the stuff you want to use when you’ve got a 

swarm of locusts descending on your crop and you want the tape to last a really long time. 

We’ve got 15 mil tape in sub-surface sugar cane which is over 20 years old. This stuff is tough 

and often used for cane, cotton, young trees and bananas in more permanent applications.

Larger T-Tape diameters allow you to run your tape over a 

longer distance, and to give you maximum flexibility, T-Tape 

is available in four different diameters. 

500 and 700 series are our most popular products for

900 series is a great product for longer run lengths of vegies 

and row crops such as sugar cane. 

1100 series is when you are after some seriously long run 

lengths. Think sugar cane and cotton.

MORE INLET FILTERS THAN 

YOU CAN POKE A STICK AT 

No one wants blocked tape! 

What makes a drip tape less likely to plug? A good starting point is putting as many inlet filters into the 

tape as physically possible. These little inlets are designed specifically to help prevent nasty contaminants 

making their way into the emitter itself. 

Unless you are using bottled spring water from the Swiss Alps as your irrigation water, chances are you are 

going to get some funky junk in your tape. Over time, some of this may block up inlet filters – because that’s 

what they are designed to do. However, never fear! A unique feature of T-Tape over many other brands with 

inserted emitters is the sheer gigantuous number of inlets each emitter has. 

The table below highlights the number of inlet filters inbuilt into every single dripper, ranging from 13 in 

10 cm spacing T-Tape to 211 in 60 cm T-Tape. 

Depending on the configuration, did you know that T-Tape needs as few as 5 inlet filters to work correctly?

FLOW RATES 

The flow rates calculated for T-Tape are determined at 55 kPa (0.55 bar). However, in some cases, you may increase pressure, which will in turn 

provide a higher flow rate from each dripper. For example, if you run T-Tape with 0.50 lph drippers at 80 kPa, each dripper will emit 0.62 lph.
