Welcome!
The Mid-Shore Community Foundation is committed to helping local students pursue higher
education. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Mid-Shore Community Foundation has
one of the largest scholarship programs in the region. Individual scholarships range in size from
$500 - $20,000 and are awarded to students with various backgrounds and educational goals.
Although many of the scholarships are for high school seniors, there are several for students
already enrolled in college as well as non-traditional students.
The Foundation serves the Mid-Shore Region and provides scholarships to students residing in
Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot Counties. Students must plan to attend a 2
or 4-year college/university or vocational/technical program, as a full-time student (minimum of
12 credits per semester). Scholarships are awarded based upon financial need, academic
achievement and community service. Additionally, each donor determines the eligibility criteria
for his or her scholarship. Please read the specific requirements for each scholarship to
determine if you are eligible.
Additionally, all applicants are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA). To complete the FAFSA, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov or request a paper FAFSA by calling 1-
800-4-FED-AID. Whether you choose to submit your FAFSA online or by mail, it should be
received at the federal processing center no later than March 1.
The Foundation offers two types of scholarships.
1. Pooled Scholarship Funds
The Foundation administers a Pooled Scholarship Program, which allows
students to apply to multiple scholarships by completing one online
application. The Foundation administers the application, selection and award
process of the pooled funds. To apply to these scholarships, visit
www.mscf.org and complete the online application. The application period
opens on December 1 and closes on February 1.
2. Donor Involved Scholarship Funds
Some donors manage their own scholarships. While the Foundation provides
oversight and administers the payment process for these scholarship funds,
the application and selection processes are managed by an external selection
committee. To apply to these scholarships, you will need to contact the
organization/individual that is listed. Application periods vary.
