Sri Sarada Devi Jayanti and Kalpataru Day
The new year 2016 began doubly auspicious
on 1 January with the celebrations of
Kalpataru and Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi’s
163rd Birthday.
Devotees thronged the temple at 6 am for
Mangalarati which was followed by vedic
chanting, bhajan, meditation and reading of
the auspicious event at the Cossipore Garden
House where Sri Ramakrishna as the
Kalpataru (Wish fulfilling tree) bestowed the
householder devotees with divine
illumination on 1 Jan 1886.
Later, Lalitha Sahasranam chanting, bhajan
and homa was conducted for Holy Mother
followed by Lunch Prasad.
After evening Arati, Swami Vimokshananda
spoke on "The Magnificent Mother" where he
highlighted incidents from Holy Mother’s life
which indicated importance of mindfulness
on each and every action of ours.
