MEET COURTNEY ELIZABETH MILLS
Courtney Elizabeth Mills is the Chief Executive Officer of Mills Group Real Estate. Courtney’s first real
estate experience was assisting her Father with the sale of 65 acres of their 250+ acre farm located in
Cary, NC to a national home builder. The fields that once yielded hay for the farm animals, and wood for
the fireplace became home to Toll Brothers’ popular Woodlands of Green Level Crossing.
A North Carolina native, Courtney’s family roots date back to the mid 1700’s, when her ancestors first
settled in Wake County, in an area that is now west Cary. Her great-grandfather, Alious Haywood Mills
began accumulating land for farming and growing tobacco, at one point owning up to 1,000 acres. Her
great-grandfather also the built the family home in 1914, where Courtney grew up and her family still resides. In front of the
home her great-grandfather also built the Mills General Store which the family owned and operated. Both properties are on
the National Historic Registry. Courtney is the first woman out of eight generations in her family to build her own business in
real estate and land management.
While growing up, Courtney watched new neighborhoods, housing developments, highways, and shopping centers replace
the farms on which her neighbors lived. From a young age, Courtney’s possessed a true passion for real estate. She aspired to
become a real estate professional, with a vision of assisting families, builders and developers in the disposition and purchase
of land and homes.
In 2005 Courtney obtained her North Carolina Real Estate Brokers License. Her brokerage experience includes representing
buyers, sellers, and investors with Prudential Carolinas (now Berkshire Hathaway), ERA Pacesetters, and Northside Realty.
Courtney is also the Founder and CEO of The Mills Group, LLC - an investment real estate company here in the Triangle.
Courtney’s career also includes experience in working in land management, development, construction, project management,
property restoration, remediation, and rehabilitation for such companies as Belfor Property Restoration an Disaster One.
Courtney is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and graduate of Duke University’s Paralegal
Certification Program in 2009. She is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Raleigh Regional Association of
Realtors, and Triangle Multiple Listing Service. In her free time she volunteers with the Wake County SPCA.
