Established in 1783, when 1,400
American Loyalists from the New York
state region fled the Revolution and
settled first in Treasure Cay at Carleton
Point. From there, some moved on to
nearby islands. These pioneers
developed the economy of the island
with an expertise in wooden
boatbuilding, a tradition that has been
passed down to present day.
The natural beauty and pristine waters
are major attractions to living in or
visiting Treasure Cay. There are no
pictures that can prepare a visitor for
the awesome site of this beach…its
size, its white powdery sand and those
beautiful blue waters.
Treasure Cay Hotel Resort & Marina
resort’s layout has embraced the nuances of the community. One feels connected to the locals in sharing
grocery store visits, shopping for beachwear, enjoying morning aromas from the bakery and visiting the canvas
shop or post office. There are several locations to “wet your whistle”, from the Spinnaker Lounge to the Coco
Beach Bar and the Tipsy Seagull Bar. The Tipsy Seagull is renowned as the local hot spot that features weekly
live entertainment and dancing ‘til the wee hours. About 100 yards from the water’s edge sits the Coco Beach
Bar & Grill, famous for its Bahamian drink specialties and local grilled favourites. This quaint, nautical facility
features weekly entertainment, picnic tables, lounge chairs, thatched shades and a water sport cabana for Hobie
Cat, kayak and banana boat rentals. The Spinnaker Restaurant is best for upscale dining.
In Treasure Cay one can relax, or be adventurous and go snorkelling, diving or golfing at the championship
course. Treasure Cay had established itself as the #1 spot for catching blue marlin in the Bahamas. In 1996, a
