Finding Your
New Normal
One of the most important things for people who
face a life changing event is getting their lives back
to the way it was prior to that event. The same
applies for people who have had an amputation.
Some people call it, finding their ‘new normal’.
People lose limbs for a variety of different reasons.
Adapting to limb loss can take time; especially due
to the fact that it’s permanent. For this reason it is
common for people to seek out their ‘new normal’.
This may be taking part in day to day activities like
going to work, meeting with friends, cooking dinner
for the family or shopping at a local centre.
For some people finding their ‘new normal’ and
knowing when that time has come means that
they are back on track and starting to make
progress in their world. When you find your ‘new
normal’ and start to feel comfortable in your own
skin, you can get on with your life, move forward,
and start living again.
