Alpha Mathematics Overview

Alpha Math was created with the notion that Math extends beyond the classroom.
Children need to understand the purpose of what they’re doing, the logic behind
the procedures, and the reasonableness of their solutions. Each lesson is aligned
with the Common Core State Standards, encouraging children to approach math
practically so that they are prepared for college and career.
Alpha Math’s problems and World Connections provide real-world context,
allowing children to gain a purpose to learning. Multiple mathematical strategies
encourage students to choose the approach with which they are most
comfortable. Student’s participation and writing provides teachers insight to how
the students are progressing and in which areas they need support.
This Program Provides:
Interactive, visual and differentiated learning styles that address the needs of all learners.
The program is divided into chapters based on five domains of CCSS; Number & Operations in
Base Ten, Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Numbers & Operations, Measurement & Data, and
Geometry.
Wide range of world problems to demonstrate the use of generic problem solving methods. Higher
order thinking problems are involved to develop critical thinking.
Definition of new terms relevant to the chapter, improving the math language skills for children by
defining new terms relevant to the chapter.
Formative assessment at the end of the chapter to test students’ understanding of the content.
Differentiated assessment and instructional levels to address the need of all learners.
Various hand-on activities based on the theory of multiple intelligence, to address all types of
intelligences.
Interactive games and online activities resources to enrich the educational process.
