Non-availability of railway
tickets adds to passengers’ woes

KARACHI, Feb 4: After
the protest of Pakistan
International Airlines (PIA)
employees, the railway has
also irked passengers as
advance booking and sale
of tickets in black have
affected the departures
badly.
The passengers have
turned to railway stations
after permanent shutdown
of flight operations by PIA
due to protest against privatization.
The locals are facing
problems in getting
tickets of trains as the platforms
are continuously witnessing
crowd.
KARACHI: A large number of passengers seen booking their seats for trains at Cantt
Railway Station as many passengers started traveling by trains after suspension of
domistic flight operations of PIA due to strike called by its employees.

Over 13,000
cancer patients
treated at SIUT

SIUT, Adib Rizvi revealed on
Thursday over 5000 urinary
bladder cancer patients, 3000
kidney cancers, 2000 prostate
cancers and more than 3000
other cancer patients were
treated at department free of
cost with dignity till last year.

No ambiguity regarding completion of
Karachi operation: Corps Commander

to provide monthly scholarships
to girl students of
class-I to class-VI has been
launched in entire Sindh,

In the first phase, at least
320 students were given
ATM cards.
The initiative has been
taken by Sindh’s Education
Department for female students
in the government

will be given Rs 2,500 per

ATC seeks comments
on maintainability of
Uzair's petition
KARACHI, Feb 4: An Anti-Terrorism Court
(ATC) on Thursday directed prosecutor general
Sindh and Rangers' prosecutor to file comments
regarding the maintainability of application filed
by Uzair Jan Baloch seeking meeting with his
counsel.
The Lyari gang war leader, who is currently in
Rangers' detention, approached the administrative
judge of ATC, Justice Muhammad Farooq Shah
through his attorneys, Khawaja Naveed and Ms
Saifee Khan, seeking the court's direction for his
meeting with his counsel.
In the application it was submitted that
the attorney had meet Baloch on 30th
January when he was presented in the
court by Rangers for informing the court
about his detention for questioning, but they could
not talk their client.
“The advocates need instruction from Uzair
Baloch and for this an exclusive meeting, in which
lawyer and client may have privileged communication,
is required,” the applicant stated.
SHC issues notice on petition against VIP
Culture: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on
Thursday admitted the constitutional petition of
Ansar Burney Trust International against VIP culture
and issued notice to the Federation of Pakistan.

KARACHI, Feb 4: The Sindh
government should initiate the
vital scheme of Thar Canal on
priority and start drip irrigation
system there to end poverty,
deprivation and diseases, the
provincial government was
advised by the members of
Sindh Assembly here on
Thursday.
Discussing on a motion of
Thar which was adopted unanimously,
the lawmakers said
that the main issue of Thar is
the shortage of water and it
could be mitigated through
starting the lingering scheme
of the Thar Canal. They said
the water pipeline schemes
should be accelerated and nonworking
pipelines should be
made operational. They asked
a probe into the scam of RO
plants in Thar and demanded
the companies that have supplied
these faulty plans should
be made accountable. They
said people of Thar have been
suffering from the negligence
and bad governance of the
rulers of Sindh and to serve
them properly the Sindh government
would have to change
its governance style.

Hussain heard the petition filed by the Ansar
Burney Trust through its Director Shagufta
Burney and Manager Mohammed Danish
Ali against the VIP culture, VIP protocol,
closer of roads and public places and its
their effects on general public. The court issued
notices to the government. Ansar Burney Trust
International Chairman, Ansar mentioned in his
petition that his Trust is not against the security
provided to officials facing life threats but is
aimed at resolving the lethal effects of such VIP
culture which is over-defensive in approach and
obstructive in nature as the VIP move around the
masses with highly equipped bullet and bomb
proof convoy escorted by heavy security of
armed constables and commandos, due to which
public convenience is routinely sacrificed.
