Cold-Poached
Dried Figs
6 golden dried figs
1/2 c unsweetened pomegranate juice
1/4 c triple sec
2 tbsp granulated sugar
In a small sauce pan, combine
everything except figs. Simmer 15
minutes, the pour over figs in bowl.
Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before
serving. Best made the night before.
Plant-Based Aphrodisiacs
Sure, everyone thinks of oysters when aphrodisiac food comes to
mind, but did you know figs rank even higher on the lusty eats scale?
As do avocados, asparagus, pomegranates, beets, and more. Part
myth, part science, the shapes and symbolic traits of the food we eat
have been known to stir deeper feelings than just a full tummy by
sending subtle cues to our sub conscious. Word on the street is that
figs were the original forbidden fruit. So, while serving your
Valentine these chewy, slightly citrus delights, marvel at how being
so bad can still be so good.
