Southwest Soul Circuit
This on-the-job training created a sink or swim environment which accelerated
my growth as a pianist. While on Okinawa, I soon learned music direction while
working on various plays produced by a fellow US service member. Upon my
honorable separation from the military in 1994, I was asked to headline a tour
of Kyushu Island, playing eight shows over ten days in three cities including
Miyazaki and Oita.
In 1997 I started my formal collegiate training at Tennessee State University
and transferred to the University of Arizona in 1999. I took advantage of
living in America’s “Music City”, Nashville, Tennessee by playing for various
gospel legends and touring. While I served as Assistant Choir Director at
Tennessee State University I introduced various forms of gospel music
to the university choir.
As a student at the University of Arizona I landed
principal roles in various full-operas as a Baritone,
including the role of “Maseto” in Mozart’s “Don
Giovanni.” All that I do, I put my all into it. I
