Kris has made a career
out of pushing against
the limits of fashion
the way a plane pushes
against gravity, and
the horizon has never
looked more inviting.
Kristopher S. Osuna is a freelance professional hair and makeup
artist in Tucson. Born with a talent for hair and makeup honed by
years of practice and study at the Vidal Sassoon Academy of Hair
Design, Kris knew early in his life that his calling was to beautify.
Born the son of a beautician, Kris’ venture into the world of dye,
curling irons and makeup brushes was nearly inevitable. His
zeal for makeup and hair artistry springs from a love of making
people feel fabulous and a recognition of the infinite possibilities
fashion can bring. Kris began his career as a retail makeup artist
for Aveda in Scottsdale. His need for the new and exciting drove
him to Nordstrom, MAC, Prescriptives, and other companies
before he finally broke out of makeup and got serious about hair.
He moved to Oklahoma City with a more ambitious outlook and
sharpened his cutting skills at The Vidal Sassoon Academy of Hair
Design in 2011. After graduating, he made the move from the
mid-west back to the “wild west”. Starting fresh as a hair stylist
at Imagine Barbershop and Hair Studio, Kris let his gypsy muse
guide how to expand his career in the hair and makeup industry.
Followed by a chaotic whirlwind of lashes and eyeshadow, Kris
began working with Tucson-based photographers on freelance
photo shoots, including the RAW Artists Showcase. With less
than a year back in the Sonoran Desert Kristopher had become
one of the rising MUAH stars of Tucson.
While working with an eccentric local photographer, Kris had the
opportunity to construct some Fashion Week worthy hairstyles.
Working out of a converted warehouse downtown Kris managed
to stay cool and focused for 22 hours. He kept his models in high
spirits with his high energy and positive attitude, all the while
crafting a look that ultimately got him featured in Vogue Italia.
Once is never enough for something good, and Kris has now been
featured in the pages of Vogue three times. Every new shoot lets
Kris revel in the best part of his profession, meeting new people,
making new connections, and touching lives with art.
Kris shares his vision as a stylist at Les Chaveux Hair Salon and
Boutique. Always one to take the road less travelled, his penchant
for dramatics spills over into his day job. Kris does not simply cut
