details were printed in Hungarian,
for the bride’s family, and Russian,
for the groom’s family.
the reception décor
Shaded chandeliers filled out the
reception tent, allowing the couple
to choose low table centerpieces.
In 2004, Pavel Shchukin (30
their story
and a software development
manager) and Zora Juranyi (33 and a homemaker)
were just friends. The next year, they were dating.
And two years after that, the couple were living
together. One night, Zora came home from a class
to a house lit up with candles. A trail of petals led
her from the entrance to the second-floor terrace,
which was also covered in candles. On the table:
two glasses, a bottle of Cristal in an ice bucket
and a cake with “I love you, Zora” written on it.
Pavel was waiting with a proposal. Originally, the
pair wanted to have their wedding at a Newport,
Rhode Island, waterfront mansion. Instead, they
went for a similar setting closer to home. —MB

Pink-and-white altar arrangements
of delphiniums, hydrangeas, calla
lilies and roses didn’t block guests’
view of Long Island Sound.
the cake
Pink sugar flowers were sweet
additions to the cake. The couple’s
favorite flavors, strawberry and
chocolate, were inside.

The site, a waterfront estate,
set the tone for the day. Details
in shades of pink, from blush
to fuchsia, gave the wedding a
romantic, whimsical feel.

the wedding party looks
The groomsmen’s hot-pink pocket
squares matched the bridesmaids’
tea-length dresses. The short style and
light fabric kept the women comfortable
at the outdoor event.
the boutonniere
Pavel’s kaleidoscope phalaenopsis
orchids were so richly detailed, he
didn’t need to wear any other blooms
on his lapel.
the first dance
The newlyweds snuck in a kiss during
their dance to David Gray’s “Be Mine.”
Their eight-piece band then filled the
party with '80s, '90s and current tunes.

the bridal bouquet
Pink roses were a classic pick, while
kaleidoscope phalaenopsis orchids
gave the mix some modern flair.

The reception took place under a
tent beside a mansion, giving the
wedding a destination feel just
minutes from the couple’s home.
