Meccanotecnica is
proud to announce the
achievement of an important
milestone, the
latest one in a long row
of success obtained by
the world leader in the
sale of automatic book
sewing machines.
In November 2007 the
Aster book sewing machine
nr. 3000 produced
by the Italian company
was delivered. Going
into detail, the machine
is an Aster 180C commissioned
by Pacini Editore
S.p.A., a historical
Italian publishing house
located in Ospedaletto,
in the heart of the
industrial area of Pisa,
Tuscany.
The President of this
company is Mr. Pierfrancesco
Pacini, who keeps
up with a successful
family tradition dating
back to 1875. Besides
university and literary
essays, Pacini’s core business
is art and image
books. The avowed aim
of the company is to
reach a global quality of
the end product, which
is the basis for the customer
satisfaction.
This is obtainable through
a continuous product
monitoring during
the whole manufacturing
process. Everything
is made internally. How
is it possible? Here’s
some figures about
the company: 15000
sqm production plant,
70 employees, divided
into designers, printers,
maker-ups, editors,
marketing, and administration
staff. In short,
a structured enterprise
that can manufacture a
‘global product’, starting
from the design until
the finishing, by providing
specific skills for
each single phase of
production, thanks also
to the modern technology
they are equipped
with.

chine was the ideal choice
for this company:
thanks to its extreme
compactness and versatility
the machine is a
real point of reference
for small and medium
sized book binderies.
Since its introduction
to the market, in 2006,
Aster 180C has become
very popular worldwide,
thanks to its easy
use, fast size change,
enviable performance
and the possibility to be
integrated in a Uniplex
gathering/sewing line.
It incorporates the
same construction and
cutting-edge solutions
found in the superior
class of Aster sewing
machines: for example,
Coming exhibitions:
the extensive use of
carbon fibre components,
such as the new
signature register device
on the sewing saddle
and the new leveler bar,
guarantees better stiffness
and lightness and
the total absence of vibrations.
The heart of the machine
is still the sewing
saddle, controlled by a
sealed cam box containing
the cam shafts that
work in a permanent oil
bath, thus guaranteeing
ultra long life for the
cams.
On request the machine
can be fitted with
Signalynx, the new signature
control system,
entirely developed and
produced by Meccanotecnica.
In a market where production
runs are getting
shorter and shorter
and paper types more
difficult to handle, the
Aster 180C is the perfect
