The College enabled me to take 

my NVQ Level 3 in Professional 

Cooking and it was great to be able 

to ask advice and guidance from 

the teachers who taught the course. 

I learnt some good techniques and 

gained skills which enabled me to 

solidify my knowledge. 

This year I won the Observer Food 

Monthly Outstanding Achievement 

Award for creating an inventive 

and healthy menu in my current 

workplace - a school for autistic

Courses are developed to give you 

the best chance of getting the career 

you want. You will be encouraged 

to take part in extracurricular 

activities and projects where you

We use our links with businesses

Achieving Maths and English 

at GCSE grade A*-C is essential 

for progression within Further

achieve a minimum grade C we will 

support you in the restudy of these

Contemplation Room 

We have a Learning Centre at each 

college with resources to support 

your studies. The Learning Centres 

provide places for you to complete 

your course work, and offer silent 

space to work as well as group 

work space. 

The Learning Centres also provide 

computers, self-service print, scan, 

copy and binding facilities, and sell 

stationery. 

We have a quiet contemplation room 

for students and staff to use for 

mindfulness, contemplation, faith 

and worship activities. We recognise 

this can often be of fundamental 

importance to the wellbeing of

Sports & Gym 

We have a team of professionally 

qualified sports coaches and 

instructors dedicated to providing 

a timetable of free sports activities 

for you. You can also keep in shape 

at one of our fitness centres with a

kitchen and restaurant are open to

been used as a filming location for

Hair & Beauty Salon 

Gym 

Our Hair & Beauty students learn in 

our commercial hairdressing salon 

and professional treatment rooms 

where they work with paying clients. 

It’s not just our Sports Academy 

students that benefit from the 

facilities. We offer free gym 

membership to all our students 

at our fitness centres so you can 

exercise your body as well as your

The 24+ Advanced Learning Loan is 

a government loan that could help 

you bridge the gap between where 

you are now and where you want 

to be by providing financial support

nothing to pay until you’re earning 

over £21,000 a year – so you have

I found out about 24+ Loans as the College prepared 

me to move from Level 2 City & Guilds Certificate 

ITQ + CIW: Site Development Associate to Level 3. 

We were told about the financial support options 

available. It was great to be able to apply for the loan 

with support from Student Services. The money for 

the course fees goes directly to the College so it’s 

very simple and it’s not something you need to worry 

about. The loan gives me access to a lot of facilities 

and I’m under less financial pressure, it’s something I 

can give back when I’m ready, as you pay the money 

back when you’re earning over £21,000, so it’s not 

like other loans. 

After studying Web Design at the College initially, I 

asked myself why should I stop? I’m so happy to now 

be studying on Level 3 of the course and hope my 

hard work will bear fruit.

Access to Higher Education Diplomas are nationally recognised 

qualifications that provide the knowledge and skills to go forward 

on to higher education. These courses are targeted at people who 

want to go to university but don’t have the necessary level of 

qualification required to gain a place. 

We offer a range of subject areas aimed at helping people to get 

into the university of their choice. Many of our students have 

gained entry to some of the country’s best institutions and have 

achieved top class degrees upon graduation. 

You should be aware that if you apply for this course you will be 

committing to a minimum of a further three years study after the 

completion of the Diploma. Applicants must also have a GCSE 

grade A*- C in English and Maths to be eligible for the programme.

at Catalyst Partnership group. After a telephone 

interview, I was invited into a group screening with 15 

managers which included activities to demonstrate 

leadership and listening skills, and a Maths and 

English test, before a final interview. 

I was delighted to get the apprenticeship which 

meant I spent every Tuesday at the College studying 

and the rest of the time at the Catalyst Office. 

Now that I have completed the course, I know I

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. 

Students can work and study at the same time, receive a salary 

and gain a set of nationally recognised qualifications to enhance 

their career prospects. 

All of our apprenticeships can lead into full time careers. Alongside 

the practical experience and industry knowledge, you’ll also 

develop a solid grounding in Maths and English. The majority of 

our apprentices go straight into full time work upon completion of 

their apprenticeship. 

To apply for an apprenticeship course you must be aged 16+ and

study at Sixth Form. I had heard that this was the

beginning, now I enjoy talking to them and I’m much

talk to others outside of the College. I have the best 

teacher, she has helped me a lot, including with my

programme is suitable for 16-18 year old non-native speakers of 

English who have just arrived in the UK, and for 16+ learners who 

have attended school here and need further specialised English 

support to help them succeed in the UK. 

You can join a 16—18 Study Programme at Ealing Green, 

Hammersmith & Fulham and Southall Community Colleges. The 

programme is full-time, with lessons 3 days a week, and access to 

the Learning Centre, Gym and clubs the rest of the week. The course 

focuses on English Speaking and Listening, Reading, Writing, Maths 

up to GCSE, and other subjects such as IT, Science, Tutorial and 

Enrichment. There are workshops and trips throughout the year to 

make the learning rich and interesting. You will have a dedicated 

tutor who will guide you and help you achieve your goals. At Entry 

3, the programme includes tasters in a range of different subjects 

to help you progress onto other college courses and into the 

workplace. 

LEVELS 

We have programmes suitable for all levels, from Pre-Entry to Level 2. 

From Pre-Entry to Level 2, learners build their confidence in 

communicating in English and Maths, and get an introduction to 

education, work and life in the UK. 

At Entry 3, the course includes tasters, in areas such as: Business, 

Service Industries, Multi-skills and Community Services, to 

supplement the English and Maths learning. These tasters will 

help learners decide which area they would like to specialise in the 

following year, and will provide personal, social and employability 

skills and experiences which will enrich students’ CVs. 

At Level 1 and Level 2, learners can choose an academic route, 

focusing on developing their Pre-GCSE academic speaking, listening, 

reading and writing skills, and together with Maths, Science and IT, 

will help them progress onto GCSE/A-level or Pre-Access workplace.

I passed the College one day and decided to go in 

and enquire. I felt it very important to meet the 

people who would be teaching me. I was able to meet 

Hairdressing lecturer Pam Neale, who was lovely. Pam 

has over 30 years of experience; she is passionate, 

creative and very inspirational. Meeting her gave me 

the confidence to make the move, taking me out of 

my comfort zone. I signed up straight away. 

My tutor Pam received an email about auditions for 

the BBC Two series ‘Hair.’ She encouraged us all to 

apply and I knew it would be an amazing opportunity 

so I decided to go for it. Before I knew it, we were in 

a TV studio, getting ready to start our first day of 

filming! 

I was absolutely thrilled to win. The competition was 

one of the most intense and surreal experiences of 

my life. I enjoyed every aspect of the show, from 

having the resources to create new and wild hair 

designs, to discovering new things about myself along

Our students learn by hands-on experience and develop skills, 

knowledge and attitudes that can be used throughout life. We 

encourage participation in everyday situations to give our 

students the confidence to make the most of opportunities as they 

transition into adulthood. Our students also become community 

aware by participating in activities and projects outside of college. 

We aim to stretch and challenge each student so they push 

themselves to become the very best that they can be. 

The College’s teaching staff will work closely with you and your 

parents/carers to help you achieve planned learning goals. 

Other support available includes group and one-to-one learning 

support and personal care where student dignity is paramount. 

This includes access to personal care facilities with a range of 

equipment such as hoists and physiotherapy beds. 

The department also works closely with national organisations 

such as Ambitious About Autism, Mencap and Scope, who work 

with our teams to develop best practice and support positive 

outcomes for all students. 

What qualifications are available? 

Our programmes focus on Independent Living Skills and Skills 

for Working Life. Nationally accredited qualifications recognise a 

range of skills, knowledge and attitudes developed. Amongst these 

will be vocationally focused programmes in; Retail, Hospitality and 

Catering, Sport, Performing Arts and Multimedia. 

All learners will develop English, Maths and ICT skills. 

Project Search 

Most recently, the college’s Project 

Search West London programme 

which placed 11 interns at Hilton 

London Heathrow Airport Terminal 

5 declared a 91.6% success in 

securing full time employment for 

our Supported Interns, making it 

the 2nd most successful Project 

Search project in Europe for 

2014—15. 

Project Search is a collaborative 

initiative involving Hilton Hotel T5, 

Ealing Borough Council, Mencap 

and the College which prepares 

young people with learning 

difficulties and disabilities for 

competitive employment. 

The department is currently 

working on growing more 

partnerships and collaborations to 

continue to increase employment

The Gatehouse is a two year 

transitional programme which has 

been set up to enable students with a 

diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome or 

HFA, to prepare and acquire the skills 

and qualifications needed to access 

mainstream provision. 

There is flexibility within the 

programme for students to attend 

the Gatehouse and also access 

mainstream courses in their second 

year. Learners in the second year can 

have a split timetable if they want to 

access GCSE retakes with Gatehouse 

tutors liaising with mainstream 

lecturers so that there is ongoing 

consistent support offered.

we’re a very close knit. This is an important skill for 

Public Services as you never work alone, always in

I’ve just got back from Washington DC where I took 

part in National Policing Week. Seeing how the police 

work on such a large scale event was really exciting 

and overwhelming. It was the first time I’d even 

been on a plane. The whole experience definitely

On the course we do lots of team work sessions and 

learn how to keep calm and work under pressure. The

During this 10 week course you will 

develop the knowledge and skills to 

make and retrieve bookings using 

the GALILEO airline reservation 

system (GDS). It is one of the main 

systems used in the industry both 

for longhaul and shorthaul flights 

and will provide you with a good 

grounding to use other systems that 

you may encounter in your career. 

You will need a good understanding 

of English (at least to level 1) and 

the ability to use a computer 

independently. 

This course will strengthen your 

ability to gain employment within

Based at our Ealing Green College, our Art & Design courses are 

designed and delivered to encourage students’ creativity, artistry 

and imagination, developing both practical and theoretical skills. 

These courses are for you if you’re interested in cutting edge 

digital work and traditional art and design activities. Students 

learn to design using various industry-standard software 

applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe 

Illustrator and Maya. 

Course activities cover a range of traditional and new media 

techniques, skills and disciplines that may include (depending 

on course): drawing, painting, print techniques, typography, 

packaging, collage, sculpture work, mixed media projects, web

On winning the Outstanding Individual Award, Annabelle 

said: “I have always had an interest in human rights due 

to a chaotic childhood where I was denied access to 

education from the ages of 9 – 18. The college offered 

me the chance to take my A-Levels in Government & 

Politics and History and ultimately led me to receive an 

unconditional offer from a Russell group university. Being 

an aspiring human rights lawyer I have been proactive in 

getting more knowledge into the values of education and

Based at our Hammersmith College and Southall Community 

College, the Inclusive Learning Department offers a wide range of 

courses to students with a diverse range of needs and aspirations. 

Our high needs specialist programmes are designed to meet the 

needs of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities 

(PMLD). We use resources that are bespoke, relevant and sourced 

to focus on our learner first ethos. 

Our students learn by hands-on experience and develop skills, 

knowledge and attitudes that can be used throughout life. We 

encourage participation in everyday situations to give our 

students the confidence to make the most of opportunities as they 

transition into adulthood. Our students also become community 

aware by participating in activities and projects outside of college. 

We aim to stretch and challenge each student so they push 

themselves to become the very best that they can be. 

The College’s teaching staff will work closely with you and your 

parents/carers to help you achieve planned learning goals. 

Other support available includes group and one-to-one learning 

support and personal care where student dignity is paramount. 

This includes access to personal care facilities with a range of 

equipment such as hoists and physiotherapy beds. 

The department also works closely with national organisations 

such as Ambitious About Autism, Mencap and Scope, who work 

with our teams to develop best practice and support positive

Most recently, the college’s Project 

Search West London programme 

which placed 11 interns at Hilton 

London Heathrow Airport Terminal 

5, declared a 91.6% success in 

securing full time employment for 

our Supported Interns, making it 

the 2nd most successful Project 

Search project in Europe for 

2014—15. 

Project Search is a collaborative 

initiative involving Hilton Hotel T5, 

Ealing Borough Council, Mencap 

and the College which prepares

The Multimedia Programme aims 

to help learners develop skills in a

Qualification (VRQ) is primarily 

designed to engage and motivate 

aged 14 to 19 year olds who are

support their progress into the retail 

motor vehicle industry.
