6 7 Nights Days BORNEO ADVENTURE DAY 01 ARRIVE KUCHING [-/-/-] Upon arrive Kuching Airport, meet & greet by our representative and transfer to hotel. Check-in hotel and the rest of the day free at leisure on own arrangement. Overnight Kota Kinabalu Brunei Turtle Island Sandakan Sukau <strong>Malaysia</strong> DAY 02 KUCHING [B/-/-] Breakfast is served at hotel. Kuching Batang Ai Morning, proceed to Kuching City Tour. After tour, transfer back to hotel. Pick up at 1615hrs from your hotel. This tour takes you around the rivers of the Santubong Peninsular, offering you the chance of seeing some of Sarawak’s fascinating wildlife. The cruise starts at the Sarawak Boat Club. From there your boat cruises to the mouth of the Santubong River, where Irrawaddy dolphins are often spotted. KUCHING The perfect introduction to Sarawak’s historic capital, this tour includes Kuching’s Chinatown, the Cat Statue (Kuching means “Cat” in Malay), the colorful Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple, the Civic Centre Viewing Platform and the world famous Sarawak Museum. Across river, visit the unique Cat Museum. Return via the golden-domed City Mosque and through Old Kuching, passing colorful Central Markets with spice dealers and textile shops. Pass by the heritage buildings of the White Rajah era, the Pavilion, the Square Tower, the Court House, the Charles Brooke Monument and the Post Office. KOTA KINABALU Kota Kinabalu is situated on the tropical island of Borneo, and is the state capital of the <strong>Malaysia</strong>n state Sabah, which is one of the two states of East Malysia. The location of the city is absolutely amazing; and from the airport it is just a short ride to mostly any hotel. You find a world class sailing marina and championship golf courses as well as both first class holiday resorts and the food is varied in a way that only a state with 30 ethnic groups can offer. The flavours you will find are excellent and in KK, as Kota Kinabalu also is called, there are gourmet meals in restaurants for elegant dining, but you will also find wonderful tastes and textures in a bowl in a hawker’s stall at the night market. SELINGAN TURTLE ISLAND The Turtle Island Park (gazetted 1977) lies 40km north of Sandakan in the Sulu Sea and consists of Selingan, Bakungan Kecil and Gulisan islands. The park is a safe haven for the endangered green and hawksbill turtles and gives you the rare opportunity to watch turtle landings. Selingan, the largest of the islands, houses the park's headquarters, a turtle hatchery, tourist accommodation and basic facilities. DAY 03 Your boat then roams the mangrove-lined rivers looking for wildlife. As the light starts to fade we go in search of the rare proboscis monkey. Small groups are often seen in the treetops at the water edge, settling down for the night. As dusk arrives we search for fireflies and crocodiles. Crocodiles are often seen on the mud banks and brightly shining crocodile eyes can be spotted when a torch light is passed over the river. After searching for crocodiles your boat proceeds further up river where fireflies gather at night. Watch the fireflies move around the branches of the mangroves, momentarily lighting up the night sky. After enjoying a firefly light show you return to the boat club. Notes: Please note that wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, we do enjoy a high success rate. Wildlife commonly seen on this tour includes proboscis monkeys, estuarine crocodiles, macaque monkeys, fireflies, monitor lizards, silver-leaf monkeys. Irrawaddy dolphins and a range of bird life like White Belly Eagle, White Eagret, Seagull, Kingfisher and others. Cruises do not operate during rainy weather. Overnight. KUCHING / LEMANAK [B/L/D] Breakfast is served at the hotel. Check-out from the hotel and proceed with a 225 km car / coach journey takes you through lush green countryside dotted with paddy fields, pepper gardens and rubber plantations, and flanked by rugged jungle-clad mountains. Along the way, stop off at the Serian farmer’s market, visit a pepper garden and view carnivorous pitcher plants. Stop for lunch at a roadside bazaar deep in Iban country. Arrive at Lemanak Jetty mid-afternoon for a longboat ride up the Lemanak River, passing through typical Borneo countryside with an ancient longhouse tucked behind almost every bend in the river. Arrive at Serubah Longhouse and visit the “entire village under one roof.” Dinner, featuring delicious fresh jungle produce, is served in the simple guest-house. After dinner, return to the longhouse for an evening’s entertainment, including traditional dancing, music, games and a glass or two of tuak (rice wine) with the longhouse chief. The Iban are a fun-loving people, and visitors are expected to join in! Overnight.
DAY 04 LEMANAK / BATANG AI [B/L/D] After breakfast, enjoy a blowpipe demonstration and try shooting one yourself. Then take a short walk through the forest accompanied by traditionally-clad Iban trackers, and learn about the traditional uses of rainforest plants in Iban culture. The walk ends at the river bank, where you embark in a longboat for a journey upriver to a tree-lined jungle pool. Lunch is cooked at the riverside in traditional Iban style – all ingredients are steamed in freshly-cut bamboo tubes over an open fire. After lunch, bathe in the pool or relax at the waterside. The return journey is done in traditional style to the sounds of the rainforest – boats are propelled with poles instead of outboard motor. Return downriver for transfer to Batang Ai Jetty. After 30 minutes boat river across the 24 sq km Batang Ai Hydro Lake, arrive at the Resort. DAY 06 KOTA KINABALU [B/L/-] Breakfast is served at the resort. Morning, depart for a Fullday Kinabablu Park & Poring Hot Spring Tour. This tour brings you across mountainous Crocker Range with panoramic view of the countryside and soaring hills. Whilst en-route to Kinabalu Park, you can catch the magnificent sight of Mount Kinabalu, South East Asia highest peak. The Park is a World Heritage Site with incredible mega bio-diversity of flora and fauna, a heaven for nature enthusiasts. On arrival, enjoy a guided nature trek along one of the many trails in the park before proceeding to Poring Hot Springs which offers visitors the opportunity for an invigorating dip into its hot sulphur springs. For a closer look at nature, take the 41meter high canopy walk which offers a spectacular view of the Borneo Rainforest flora and fauna. Lunch is included. After tour, transfer back to hotel rest & relax. Check-in resort, rest & relax. Overnight Dinner is served at resort. Overnight DAY 05 BATANG AI / KUCHING / KOTA KINABALU [B/L/-] Breakfast is served at the resort, followed by a short nature walk with the resort’s resident naturalist. Check-out from the resort and we will depart to Kuching via the same route. Lunch is serve en-route. Then, continue journey to Kuching Airport for flight to Kota Kinabalu. Sabah is blessed with wonderful rainforests that contain some of the world’s rarest species, as well as beautiful coasts with sun-drenched beaches and islands with some of the best dive spots in the world and of course, last but not least, the amazing array of seafood, reputedly the best in the region. Upon arrive Kota Kinabalu Airport, meet & greet by our representative and transfer to hotel. Check-in hotel, rest & relax. Overnight DAY 07 KOTA KINABALU [B/-/-] Breakfast is served at the resort. Check-out and depart to Kota Kinabalu airport for your onward flight back home PERSONAL GEARS Please bring along torch light, swim wear, sandals (tevas), insect repellent, raincoat or umbrella, hat, binocular and sun screen (sweat proof). Use good walking shoes and comfortable / light cotton T-shirt with long or short pant. NOTES 1. For visiting longhouse at Sarawak, we will recommend guest to bring some gifts for the people in the longhouse such as cigarettes for the chief and sweets for the children.
