Concept: Porcupine
Concept-Porcupine
Porcupine is a very unique animal
which has all the principles design
element that a good interior design
needed. First, Porcupines have
soft hair, but on their back, sides
and tail usually mixed with sharp
quills which create a great contrast
between soft and sharp into
the space. Second, at the back of
the quills create a very nice repetition.
Once we apply design into the
space. The atmosphere of the space
becomes more unity and harmony.
Next, usually the quills typically
are flat until they feel dangerous.
They will have the quills protruding
to protect themselves. At the
same time, the quills are easy to
fall when touched. In the design
term, it means we can transform
the same space very easily. Last
but not least, because this animal
has a unique shape which associated
with minimalism, simple, and
clean lines. It allows the designer
to minimize the design, but at
the same time it helps the product
become a focal point and create a
nice balance for the entire space.
Client Program
Tony Riviera is the client for this project.
He owns and operates over 100 restaurants.
Now one a place that he purchased
is under construction. He wants to open
a market which combining a restaurant
and café area into the space. It will be a
casual restaurant which serve breakfast,
lunch, and dinner. It will also include a
marketplace for customers to buy groceries
and prepared food. The restaurant
required an open kitchen with a pizza
oven where they can cook for the prepared
food. At the same time, they also need
to have some displays for the prepared
food and the produce section, and some
shelving for the groceries. He needs one
office that allows 2-3 people to working
in. The goal for this market is to catch
young, foodie hipsters which around 20-
30 years old. Last, he wants this place is
