Success Through Knowledge
NEWSLETTER
“Pursuing Academic Excellence: Al Amanah College is committed to pursuing academic excellence and nurturing the individual
abilities in a caring, education and Islamic environment”
Message from the Principal’s office
Dear Parents, Students,
Staff and
Community of Al
Amanah,
Welcome back to an
exciting year of
learning in 2016! I
hope you all enjoyed
the last holiday,
taking time to
relax and achieve things that you may not
get a chance normally to do.
Firstly, I have the pleasure to extend a
special welcome to our new families who
joined us for the first time in 2016. I appreciate
the decision they made to entrust
the responsibility for their child’s education
to the dedicated and devoted staff at
Al Amanah College and I hope that your
time with us is beneficial and vitalizing.
I would like also to welcome our staff who
have returned from the long holiday break
with full energy and enthusiasm for the
new school year. Also, a particular welcome
to Mrs Oueik, who was on maternity
leave and came back this academic year
to participate again with her colleagues in
the learning development of our students.
We also welcome three new teachers: Mr
Sinwan , Miss El-Sabbagh and Miss Haddad
to our teaching staff.
The commencement to the school year
has seen our students settle in well and
working with their caring and devoted
teachers to develop and enhance their
learning skills.
Our main aim is to provide a caring and
safe environment where all students can
reach their full academic potential. We
strive to continue encouraging our students
to be actively involved in their pedagogical
learning. Again, we emphasise on
the partnership between school and home
since we consider it vital in the learning
journey of each child and it will strengthen
the communication between students,
parents and school. Consequently
we remind you to provide the following:

The current email address so that
we can send you the school
newsletter or the like.
Inform the administration office in
writing whenever your child is absent.
Inform the admin and the class
teacher if there are any changes
to your child’s medical condition.
Update your contact phone numbers,
address and employment
details if there are any changes.
A very important and urgent reminder to
all parents and carers to use all safety
precautions in regards to students and
to observe the rules at the start and end
of the day when dropping-off or pickingup
your children. We urge you to observe
the speed limit, pull your vehicle to
the kerb, avoid making a U-Turn in the
school zone and leave immediately after
the child exits to diminish the traffic congestion
in the parking area. Moreover,
you need to perform a 360 degrees
check, turn the car stereo off, and look
out rear windows before reversing to
avert any accidents.
Finally, all parents are again requested
to approach me, our coordinators or the
class teacher if they have any concerns
about their child’s progress and we are
looking forward to a vitalising a
supplemental partnership with the whole
community of Al Amanah College.
Yours Sincerely,
Bassam Adra
Al Amanah College
Al Amanah College and Salamah College have been working in partnership with the University of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif of Egypt
Arabia and Darulfatwa – Islamic High Council of Australia. Our aims are to develop Islamic Studies programs to further support
and equip our Islamic studies teachers with the skills and knowledge needed for teaching in the 21 st century. This will undoubtedly
improve the Islamic professional standing of our schools’ teachers and leaders.
Today Al-Azhar University stands as one of the most important religious universities in the Muslim world with as many as
90,000 students studying at any one time. It is one of the chief centres for Islamic Studies, the greatest and the most influential
in the Islamic world.
In December 2015 during his visit to Al Amanah College and Salamah College, the Deputy Chair of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif of
Egypt, Professor Dr ^Abbas Shuman thanked our schools, administrators and teachers for their efforts and hard work in educating
young Muslim Australians and for instilling in their hearts the correct Islamic belief that combats extremism and calls for
moderation and unity.
Our schools are pleased to announce that four of our dedicated Islamic Studies teachers have travelled to Egypt to undertake
a three months professional development course to become accredited Azhary Imams. This will have a positive impact on our
schools’ communities as well as the wider Australian Community.
Our best wishes to Mr Al Kassem and Mr Al Shelh from our Liverpool Campus, Mr Nachar from our Bankstown Campus and
Mr El Hammoud from our Sister School Salamah College. Wishing them a rewarding journey and a safe return back home!
KINDY FIRST DAY
Newsletter 2013
The first day of Kindergarten isn’t easy for teachers, parents or students but Kindergarten 2016 faced their first day of school
with courage and enthusiasm. There were some tears but overall there was lots of happiness and excitement. Students looked
amazing in their uniforms ready for a year of learning, fun and happiness.
Ms Dutrey and Ms Chami
Poem for the parents from the kindergarten teachers
The First Day of School
The first day of school
Can be hard for mum and dad.
Part of you is excited
The other part feels sad.
For many years you’ve held their hand.
And have been their loving guide.
Now you know the time has come.
To leave them by our side,
But only for a little while.
As your child will learn and grow.
And at the end of every day,
They will share with you all they know.
So as you walk away.
Don’t worry anymore,
We will take care of your precious gifts
When you leave them at the door.
SRC INDUCTION
The SRC Induction was held on Thursday 3 March. The Induction commenced with a welcome from Mrs Jalloul, followed by a
speech about leadership from Mr Adra. Our MC Mrs Jalloul presented a short PowerPoint Presentation about the roles and responsibilities
of SRC students and briefly mentioned some of the activities that last year’s SRC students helped organise. Mrs
Oueik and Mr Adra then presented the students with their badges before they made their pledge. This was followed by a lovely
morning tea with students, teachers and parents. We are looking forward to some fresh new ideas from this year’s SRC!
Mrs Oueik, Ms Chami and Mrs Swais
