the lord of the
worlds and the one
with whom we seek
protection, sustenance
and guidance.
We ask him to
enlighten our hearts
with the knowledge of the holy Qura’n
and all types of beneficial education and
learning. May Allah raise the rank of our
prophet Mohammed peace and blessing
be upon him and protect his nation from
that which he fears for it.
As the final days of Term 1 draw to a
close with the children feeling settled and
managing the daily routines expected of
them; I would like to acknowledge the
achievements made by our students,
dedicated staff for their outstanding contribution
to our students’ learning, and
especially parents for their continuous
support in various school events and their
co-operation with our rules and policies. It
is very important to build and enhance
the partnership between school and parents
to achieve better outcomes for the
children.
This term has been a busy and amazing
term, It has been full of events and activities
such as: several excursions and incursions
carried out to many places, the
annual Athletic Carnival in which all students
have the opportunity to participate
in a range of athletic activities, a successful
SRC induction and breakfast, Life Education,
and Harmony Day.
NAPLAN Preparation Sessions, the parent
information session was conducted
on 12-03-2016. The session provided
parents with basic NAPLAN information.
Our teachers who started tutoring on the
same day, will continue for another two
sessions in Term 2. Moreover, our devoted
teachers have been focusing on the
learning needs of our Year 3 & 5 students
and giving them a continuous assistance
to enable our students to achieve better
results and growth performance in their
NAPLAN results.
A kindly reminder to all parents to update
the school with any changes in your
child’s health conditions and note that all
information will be kept confidential and
will not be disclosed except to the relevant
staff.
Moreover, parents are always
encouraged to discuss the progress of
their child with the relevant to further enhance
and nurture their learning and education.
At the same time, in case an incident occurs,
parents can book an appointment
through the office to see the teacher.
Please note, the teacher will organise a
time for a meeting before or after school
or during a non-teaching session to resolve
any matters.
Finally, I wish all staff, teachers, parents,
carers and the whole community of Al-
Amanah a safe and restful holiday break
and I look forward to seeing you all back
next term.

EXCURSIONS/INCURSIONS
KINDY-CALMSLEY FARM
YR3-EYE TOWER
On Tuesday 22 March, Kindergarten went to Calmsley Hill City
Farm. Farmer Tania spoke to students about chickens and
ducks, before showing them rabbits. Children learned that a
baby rabbit is called a kitten and were given the opportunity to
pat one kitten. She then showed them the farm incubator in the
nursery. They saw rabbits, goats, and Guinea pigs. Students
were then given the opportunity to walk around the nursery and
pat different farm animals. Most students enjoyed milking the
cow.
The farmer spoke about producing cheese, cream, milk and
butter from cows. Students saw a camel and met Jack the donkey,
before meeting the alpacas. They were then told how the
alpacas work with geese as an alarm system to keep the animals
on the farm safe. Students then met Clover the Wallaroo
and Barny and Beckie the wombats. We then discussed nocturnal
animals before heading back on the bus towards School.

As part of the HSIE topic ‘Australian Significant Places’ and
the Creative Arts topic ‘Australiana’, Year 3 attended an
amazing excursion to the Sydney Tower Eye. It was a very
educational experience in which students had the opportunity
to go on an inspiring journey of discovery. They watched a 4D
movie which brought Sydney to life through breathtaking perspectives,
unique views and multi-sensory effects, including
wind, bubbles and mist. .
On the Observation Deck, the Year 3 students had a 360 degree
view of Sydney City, pointing out some previously studied
famous and historical Sydney landmarks including Sydney
Harbour, Botany Bay, Hyde Park Barracks and Fort Denison.
Students also completed a worksheet and enjoyed lunch at
the park with their peers. It was a very memorable day indeed.

YR5-ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS
The Year 5 students visited the Royal Botanical Gardens on Thursday 31 March. The students completed the Rainforest Explorers
Program where they had the opportunity to look at the special habitats and features of rainforest plants. During their
exploration, they learned about different threats faced by rainforests and the different uses of trees and plants that grow there.
This gave students an opportunity to consolidate what they had learned during HSIE lessons this term. The students had so
much fun walking through the rainforest and seeing the colourful and lush native plants close up. It was an amazing experience
for all who attended. A special thank you to Mrs Wissam for all her help on the day.

HEALTHY HAROLD
In week 10 and 11 the Life Education Van visited Al Amanah
College and all the students got to meet Harold The Giraffe.
This was an exciting experience for all students. The program
encourages a positive outlook in staying healthy and being
safe. Kindergarten to year 6 participated in various activities in
the Life Education Van. Each student received a workbook and
a sticker. The activity book for each child will be used in class
as part of the health program or as extension activities.

HARMONY DAY
On Monday 21st March the staff and students of Al Amanah
College Bankstown celebrated Harmony Day.
Harmony Day celebrates the fact that Australians come from
all over the world. The diversity of people who live in Australia
makes it such an interesting and special place to live.
This year students wore orange to school and had a class
picnic where they shared different multicultural foods. Students
then completed different activities in their classrooms.
Although it was a busy day it was fantastic to be involved in
such an important event.
SPORTS CARNIVAL
On Thursday 24 March, Al Amanah College Bankstown held its
Annual School Athletics Carnival at The Crest facility in Bass
Hill. We were once again glad to have great weather for this
wonderful whole school event. Students took part in the aged
running events and enjoyed the various novelty activities. All
house teams chanted fantastic team chants and showed wonderful
sportsmanship.
The final result of the day was:
1 st - Wattle
2 nd - Azalea
3 rd - Waratah
4 th - Eucalyptus
We would like to thank Mr and Mrs Agha for organising the
delicious hot dogs, ice blocks and drinks. Well done to all our
students and teachers for making the day such a success.
We look forward to yet another wonderful Sports Carnival in
2017.
YR1-TRAMWAYS
On Tuesday 22 March, Year One went on an exciting excursion
to the Sydney Tramway Museum. Students were able to
explore through a wide range of old and new tram models as
well as experience a tram ride through the Royal National Park
and the Sutherland area. Thank you to the parent helpers who
assisted on the day.

SRC-EXCURSION
Al Amanah College
As a part of team building and leadership skills, the SRC group for 2016 went on excursion to Tree Top Adventures. They were
able to go through 4 levels of tree top fun and adventure. Students encouraged each other through the challenges and thoroughly
enjoyed themselves. The day was filled with words of encouragement and praise. Thank you to Mrs El Masri.
