SASE (Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics):
founded in 1989
a(n) non-profit, international, inter-disciplinary organization
representing various academic disciplines include economics,
sociology, political science, management, psychology, law,
history, and philosophy
aims to:
o advance the understanding of economic behavior across a
broad range of academic disiplines;
o support the intellectual exploration of economic behavior and
its policy implications within the context of societal,
institutional, historical, philosophical, psychological, and
ethical factors; and
o balance inductive and deductive approaches to the study of
economic behavior at both micro and macro levels of
analysis.
SASE 28th Annual Conference having a grand theme “Moral
Economies, Economic Moralities” will seek contributions that
explore the relationship between economy and morality from a
variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives.

organisasi non-profit, internasional, antar-disiplin yang mewakili
berbagai disiplin ilmu termasuk ekonomi, sosiologi, ilmu politik,
manajemen, psikologi, hukum, sejarah, dan filsafat
bertujuan untuk:
o memajukan pemahaman tentang perilaku ekonomi di
berbagai disiplin ilmu;
o mendukung eksplorasi intelektual perilaku ekonomi dan
implikasi kebijakannya dalam konteks sosial, kelembagaan,
sejarah, filsafat, psikologi, dan faktor-faktor etika; dan
o menyeimbangkan pendekatan induktif dan deduktif untuk
mempelajari perilaku ekonomi di tingkat mikro dan makro
analisis.
Konferensi Tahunan SASE ke-28 memiliki tema besar "Ekonomi
Moral, Moralitas Ekonomi" akan mencari kontribusi yang
mengeksplorasi hubungan antara ekonomi dan moralitas dari
berbagai perspektif disiplin dan metodologi.

Islam and its Impact on Economic and Financial Attitudes in Indonesia

The relationship between religion and economic choices and progress has been a contested
issue since Weber’s seminal work. The emergence of Islamic economics movement and
Islamic finance sector have provided motivation to revisit the Weberian argument. This
research hence aims to explore the impact of religion (Islam in this case) on economic and
financial attitudes in Indonesia.
In this study, religion aspects are measured by building a religiosity index and using religious
participation, religious upbringing, and religious self-perception. Then, economic and financial
attitudes are measured by using attitudes toward others, women, market and its fairness, thrift,
risk aversion, government and legal institutions, legal norms, and Islamic economic and
finance.
The methodology used to collect data for this study is based on online questionnaire. With 677
respondents, statistical and econometrics analyses were conducted. The findings indicate that
religion has positive impact on attitudes toward others, thrift, government and legal institutions,
and legal norms, and mixed results on attitudes toward women, market and its fairness, and
Islamic economic and finance.

University of California-Berkeley on 24-26 June 2016. This letter is being sent to primary authors only. If
you have co-authors for your paper, please let them know that it has been accepted.
Your full paper should be uploaded to the SASE website by 30 May 2016. If you have applied for a travel
award, in order to be considered, please upload your full paper to the SASE website by 30 April 2016. We
will notify all successful recipients of the travel award by 30 May 2016.
Sessions will be tentatively scheduled into the online program by April 1 st , although the final day/time for
your session may change prior toMay 15 th .
We strongly encourage you to register for the conference and to book your hotel as early as possible. In
order to register for the meeting, please go to http://www.sase.org.
To benefit from the early bird discount, please register for the conference by March 31st, 2016. There is
also a flat, reduced rate for our colleagues from outside OECD/World Bank high-income countries.
If you register after June 1 st , you risk not appearing in the print program. Please note that there will be an
additional $50 fee for on-site registration. Unfortunately, SASE cannot reimburse conference registration
fees.
