We are going to begin a new series of articles on our church Leadership and the staff at St. Paul’s. We are hoping
to give our members an opportunity to get to know the people who have been hired or elected to help St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church and School to SOAR! We continue our series by getting to know St. Paul’s support Staff!
Ms. Carol Tye
Mrs. Kim Waggy
Getting to Know You
Carol Tye is the business administrator at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School. Carol
has two sons Richard, 25 and Maxwell, 14. Carol also has a lot of family in Cheney including
aunts, uncles and cousins. Carol grew up in Colby, Kansas and attended Colby Public Schools.
She spent her summers in Cheney at her Grandmother Luckey Harding's house. St. Paul's
became her church home when she joined in November 2010. She enjoys the dinners at St.
Paul's and getting to meet with family and friends.
Carol enjoys reading and writes a little as well. She also enjoys bicycling, but the heat of
the past summer slowed her down a bit. She claims that her family tends to be a little off
the beaten path, but that people quickly finding that out about them. Her family also enjoys
traditions that the holidays bring.
Carol’s favorite bible verse is “All the Paths of the Lord are Steadfast love and Faithfulness
for Those Who Keep His Covenant and His Testimonies.” Psalm 25:10
Kim Waggy is St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School secretary. She has worked for
the church since December of 1999. Kim was born and raised in Cheney. She was baptized
and confirmed at St. Paul’s. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and graduated from
Cheney High School. Kim is married to Jeff Waggy and they have two son’s Logan, 23 and
Jeremy, 20. Logan attends Concordia University at Seward, NE., where he is majoring in
secondary education. Jeremy graduated from Cheney High School last year and works at
th
the Dillons grocery store at 135 & Maple in Wichita.
Jeff & Kim moved into there dream home in February and haven’t gotten to far from
home since then. They enjoy watching the wildlife (deer, pheasant, and a bobcat!) from
their back deck. They have also been trying to establish a yard during one of the hottest
summers ever!
Jeff & Kim are now members at Ascension Lutheran Church, but still strongly support St. Paul’s Lutheran
School and the church as well. Kim will always have a soft spot for the school, her boys were the fourth generation
in her family to graduate from St. Paul’s. She also feels that the teachers and staff helped establish a firm bond with
Christ for her sons. She will never forget how they taught her boys about prayer, Christ’s death and resurrection,
and how much God loves them, during a time when she couldn’t. There is truly no price to great to pay to save
someone’s soul, and share with them the gift that God has given us. As Kim’s favorite bible verse says, “Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am
w ith you alw ays, to the end of the Age.” M atthew 28:19-20.
