Asked about the side’s chances of lifting the cup for the second time, Fletcher said if they continue with the winning streak, they would lift it again. “Before the World Cup, we knew what we are capable of. For sure once we continue to play cricket we are accustomed playing, we would lift the cup for the second time,” he said. Using his high command connections, he snatched the chief minister’s chair away from Rawat. The decision of the high command to impose Bahuguna had upset a lot of Congress MLAs in the state. Some of them were camping at Rawat’s house in New Delhi demanding that Bahuguna be removed and Rawat should be made chief minister. Their demands fell on deaf ears of the party bosses. Between 2012 and 2014, Bahuguna managed to run the state with the help of a small coterie opposed to Rawat. Known as an arm chair politician, he was never close to the masses like Rawat. When flood of the century hit Garhwal region in June 2013, Vijay Bahuguna was spending time in New Delhi. He returned to Dehradun only after media made it a big issue calling him an insensitive chief minister. However, passengers on board AI 701 confirmed to IBNLive that no hotel accommodation was provided by the airline. In fact, the passengers were not even deplaned till 10 pm on Sunday, even as the scheduled departure of the flight was 5:30 pm. All the passengers were deplaned at 10 pm and were transported to the terminal where there was no Air India official to attend them. Agitated passengers protested for two hours against the apathy of the airlines. Air India 701 finally landed in Delhi at 8:55 am on Monday morning, close to 14 hours after its scheduled arrival. However, Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit, who was also aboard the flight, was shifted onto a different plane and flew to Delhi along with 50 other passengers on Sunday evening itself.
