Constable Care Puppet Show Constable Care visited us last Tuesday, 24 July. Our Kindy to Year 3 students learnt about getting to school safely while our Year 4 to 7 students learnt about being safe in today’s cyber world. RFDS Donation Thank you to the families who donated money for their children (with less than 90% attendance throughout Term 2) to participate in the rock climbing activity at the end of last term. The $162 raised has been forwarded to RFDS. National Self-Detection Program for Scoliosis Scoliosis (spinal curvature) is an important health problem for adolescent girls and 25 per thousand are at risk of developing a significant curve. Three girls per thousand require active treatment (spinal brace or surgery). Screening in the age range <strong>11</strong> to 13 years is a sound preventative health measure. <strong>School</strong> screening has been abandoned but a self detection program has been introduced as a practical alternative. All Year 7 girls have received a Scoliosis Self Detection brochure with today’s newsletter and are encouraged to read and action the information. Room 6 presented Room 6’s favourite Australian Settlement facts • James Cook was the first British explorer to discover the East Coast of Australia. Joseph • Matthew Flinders discovered that Tasmania was an island and he was the first to sail right around Australia. Jaxon • Willem Janszoon was the first Dutch explorer to discover Australia. Jack • Australia’s original name was New Holland. Kody • Captain Arthur Phillip led the first fleet from Britain to Australia. They brought convicts to Australia because the jails in Britain were over-crowded. • The calculate gurus showed quick ways to mentally calculate large sums. • Multiplication Madness showed their quick recall of multiplication facts through a rap. • Loyal Crew performed a self composed readers theatre script about the virtue of loyalty. • Come on Aussies presented a dance based on the settlement of Australia.
