Gorgas Park<br />
Gorgas Park is pleased to announce many exciting,<br />
green and sustainable developments. There is a farmer’s<br />
market every Friday afternoon featuring locally grown<br />
produce. In addition, Gorgas has recently partnered<br />
with PHS’s <strong>Philadelphia</strong> Green for a new gardening<br />
initiative. The park has also acquired new low-energy<br />
lighting and a water source at the splendid Gorgas Park<br />
sign. And coming soon, a new safe playground surface<br />
for the popular Tot Lot will be installed.<br />
Gorgas Park continues with its well-loved traditions. The<br />
12th annual East River Bank Concert and Movie Series,<br />
the park’s gazebo, the lovely gardens, the lush trees,<br />
and beautiful vistas continue to excite people of all<br />
ages.<br />
This year the Friends of Gorgas Park celebrated the upgrade<br />
of the park’s website, www.gorgaspark.com. The<br />
new site is functional and fun with blogs, videos, and links<br />
to our Facebook and Twitter pages. The concert and<br />
movie schedule is actively displayed on our home page<br />
as well. Additionally, there are links to sign up for<br />
volunteer opportunities and to find information on<br />
obtaining a permit to host a birthday party, picnic, or<br />
wedding.<br />
Gorgas Park is a major asset in the <strong>Roxborough</strong><br />
community. In a world where there is increasing volatility<br />
and uncertainty, through the innovation and hard work<br />
of the Friends of Gorgas Park, Gorgas remains a bedrock<br />
of stability in <strong>Roxborough</strong>.<br />
