The Cipitio
According to the Salvadoran mythology, also known
as Cipitillo Cipitío, he was the son of the Sihuanaba,
which initially was known as Sihuehuet (beautiful
woman). Legend has it that this woman betrayed so
unfaithful to the Sun God, with God Morning Star, so the
god Tlaloc condemned both mother and child. The
mother condemned to be a woman and child
wandering never grow, and kept forever in the age of
ten.
The Sihuanaba is also another popular legend in El
Salvador. This baga woman wandering rivers and
appears to man as a pretty woman, but later becomes
an ugly woman can even leave them crazy forever.
The Cipitío was cursed as a cipote stay forever, but forever pass. It is said that some
years ago, when our grandparents were young was more common to find the
footprints of a child in the ashes of the wood oven, anyone could think it's a prank,
but ... maybe it is not, to the Cipitío loves to wallow among the ashes, and eat a lot of
it.
The Cipitío is characterized by small one paunchy and also has a huge hat on his
head and that his feet are reversed, so when they try to follow in their footsteps are
lost.
The Cipitío is a harmless character, it does not hurt but if upset with his jokes and
derisive laughter. His spirit is derisive, he hides in the bushes on the banks of rivers
and streams to wait for the pretty girls who come to wash or bathe there. When you
see them, he tells them some compliments and strip them little flowers and pebbles,
but they can not see it.
They say that when the Cipitío chasing a girl is hard to stay away, the solution to
zoom out is that the girl eat inside a toilet sitting in the rate. This is because the Cipitío
hates bad habits and therefore quickly away.
The Cipitío is a character of the Salvadoran mythology, legend has counted from
generation to generation, and even though he was sometimes added a few more
details, the essence of the legend remains the same.
