During 2015 after four years of evolution rather<br />
than revolution White & Son Shoes were out<br />
growing the shop in its present form. Owners<br />
Gail and Steve White decided that “The only way is<br />
up”. Thanks to the support of their landlord more<br />
space became available in the recently vacated<br />
premises upstairs. This would enable more stock<br />
and choice of footwear to be held and larger and<br />
brighter displays in the shop.<br />
Sadly, as the transformation started taking place<br />
Steve’s wife Gail passed away having suffered a<br />
spontaneous brain haemorrhage. Whilst Steve<br />
was devastated his loyal staff rallied round led<br />
by manageress Anne.<br />
The huge undertaking of transforming the shop<br />
was driven by the skill and commitment shown<br />
by Stuart White of S & D White Carpenters of<br />
Sidmouth who despite the difficulties following<br />
Gail’s death performed far and beyond what<br />
was expected of him. Stuart White is a “Can Do”<br />
tradesman and White & Son Shoes cannot thank<br />
him or recommend him enough.<br />
Today the shop in Fore Street Sidmouth is probably<br />
the destination for the widest selection of<br />
quality footwear in Devon. The range and selection<br />
of shoes and sandals for men and women,<br />
as customers frequently tell us, “Outstanding,<br />
if only we had a shoe shop like this in our area”<br />
Owner Steve White sums it up perfectly:<br />
“We are a shoe shop - Not a shop that sells shoes”<br />

Steve welcomes your enquiries by phone if you're<br />
travelling from afar. Sidmouth's a great place to<br />
pay a visit, with beautiful coastal views from the<br />
Esplanade and has many great places where you<br />
can enjoy lunch, an excellent museum and is a<br />
charming place to spend the day.<br />
