WELCOME TO AFRICA HOUSE
The History of The African House dates back over 150 years. Its original owner was a wealthy slave trader
from Oman, who shortly before his death handed the property over to Sultan of Zanzibar in 1888. The
first English Club of East Africa opened in this former royal residence which was ultimately converted into
a luxury hotel at the end of colonial era retaining its Royal culture and colours of Arabic and English
heritage.
The hotel has been fully renovated just recently with extensive enhancement in its stategic settings,
ambience, facilities, comfort, catering and above all its services to match its graded four star category.
ACCOMMODATION
The Africa House Hotel offers accommodation in a total of 15 rooms divided into 3 categories: 1 Royal
Deluxe Room, 6 Twin or Double Deluxe Seaview Rooms and 8 Twin or Double Deluxe Stone Town View
Rooms. Each room is equipped with all modern conveniences.
Royal Deluxe Room
The Royal Deluxe Room is the largest and most exclusive room of the Africa House. The light-flooded
room with large windows and timber-ceiling, situated on a corner, radiates a stately charm and
elegance.
The room is lavishly furnished with Persian carpets, Zanzibari chests, a sitting area and an antique,
king-size four-poster bed. An emerald green silk blanket covering the bed and thick curtains framing
the room-high windows add to the atmosphere.

The air-conditioned room has an ensuite bathroom, satellite TV, telephone, tea and coffee
making facilities and a minibar which is stocked on request.
Twin or Double Deluxe Seaview
The Deluxe Seaview Rooms are situated one flight of stairs down from the Sunset Bar. As the
name indicates, the rooms offer expansive views of the Indian Ocean.
The Deluxe Seaview Rooms are slightly larger than the standard Deluxe Rooms. All rooms are
furnished with Zanzibari beds decorated with stylish silk blankets and mosquito netting.
The rooms include air-conditioning, ensuite bathroom, satellite TV, telephone, tea and coffee
making facilities and a minibar which is stocked on request.
Twin or Double Deluxe Stone Town View
Located in the older part of the building and divided between two floors, the Deluxe Stone
Town View Rooms offer views over the rooftops of Stone Town and the courtyard facing the
hotel entrance.

The rooms have timber ceilings and are nicely decorated with Zanzibari furniture and a
hand-carved wooden chest. The traditional four-poster beds with mosquito net are covered
with emerald green or ruby red blankets adorned with golden embroidery. Thick curtains
frame the large windows.
All rooms offer air-conditioning, ensuite bathroom, satellite TV, telephone, tea and coffee
making facilities and a minibar which is stocked on request.
RESTAURANT
Tradewinds Restaurant
A 80 seater stunnigly decorated restaurant serves authentic Indian / Chinese / Mexican and
Italian curinary delights under enchanting ambience within and on the sea facing deck are
to stimulate any taste bud.
The Pasha
A stunning 80 seater Turkish Restaurant adjoining a sea facing and fully stocked bar serves
all Turkish culinary delights in Ottaman style and customs.
SHISHA BAR
For those Mediterranean guests, the shisha is a finale to their meals. A sea facing and
sparkling ocean under the moonlit night never falls to add a touch of romance to aromatic
puff after a hearty meal and a sip of spicy zanzibari kahawa.

- Cancellation within 10 days prior to arrival date will attract 75% of the room charge levied as a cancellation.
