Transition Information
This semester will be the last at ISP for some of our students and families. If you are a family who is
leaving, our entire team is here to support you and your child during your move. Our counselors
play an important role in this process and will be hosting a transition parent coffee on Thursday,
May 12 at 11AM.
Random Acts of Kindness
April 18 th -22 nd
Next week at Elementary we will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)! This will focus on kind words and deeds
and the idea that when you are kind to others without expectation of reward, that kindness in turn always comes
back to you! It’s true kindness! In the hallway near the Teacher’s Lounge we will have a paper tree that starts the
week with empty branches. As the week goes on, counselors and teachers will be passing out paper leaves when they
see kindness in action from students and staff. The student receiving the leaf will write a kind word on it, color it
and cut it out. Throughout the week we will watch our tree bloom and fill with all the kindness being shown at ISP.
During this week make sure to ask your child about the kind deeds they did that day or could try the next day. Did
they challenge themselves to invite a new friend to play at recess? Did they give someone a sincere compliment? Did
they help be an active problem-solver even in a difficult situation? Did they stop and take a deep breath before responding
when they were frustrated?
You can try to do your own random acts of kindness and model this for your children and be part of the discussion!
You could clean out your closet to find items to donate. You model sincere compliments. You could give food or a
special treat to someone to show appreciation.
We are looking forward to a week focused on KINDNESS!!!
