Performing Arts Festival', the
flagship event of Vayam
Performing Arts Society
concluded on 18th March
2016 in a grand style at LTG
Auditorium, Mandi House.
The 10 day festival which
began on 9th March 2016 has
t u r n e d o u t t o b e a n
extraordinary event in its very
first edition and a milestone
for Vayam Performing Arts
Society. With performances
by 23 arts groups, the event
has surpassed expectations
and redefined the concept of
social welfare driven by art.
The festival witnessed powerpacked,
stimulating and
enlightening street play
performances by top-notch
campus theatre teams across
prime locations in Delhi
including Nehru Place,
Janakpuri, Kamla Nagar,
Rajouri Garden etc. for the
initial days. The festival
reached its climax at the three
day long splendid grand
c u l m i n a t i o n a t L T G
A u d i t o r i u m w h e r e
performances across stage
t h e a t r e , m u s i c , d a n c e ,
photography, poetry and films
were showcased on one stage.
Prominent performances by
external art groups included
'Draupadi' (featuring Rakesh
Bedi and Himani Shivpuri),
'Aurangzeb' (directed by K.S.
Rajendran), Piano recital by
Guinness Record Holder
M r i t y u n j a y S h a r m a ,
Contemporary dance by
Sadhya Group, 'Tauliye' by
Jazba Theatre Group, 'Bijli
B i t t o o ' b y A m b i d e x t e r
Productions and 'Secular' by
Doodling Thoughts. The hosts
entertained the audiences with
their acclaimed productions
'Syaahi', Jeevita Chellave' and
'Bade Bhai Sahab'. The
festival got support from 15
organisations including SAIL,
S k o d a A u t o , K h a d i
Gramodyog a nd LIC. The
festival garnered extensive
m e d i a c o v e r a g e w i t h
articles/listings in prime
dailies like Delhi Times, The
Hindu, Deccan Herald, Mint
and Amar Ujala. Another
major achievement of the
festival is the collection of
INR 27,852 for farmer
families in distress. Malang
2016 is a landmark in the
journey of Vayam Performing
Arts Society to promote art
forms and facilitate social
welfare via art. The event has
further strengthened the
s t a n d i n g o f V a y a m
Performing Arts Society in the
art and culture circuit of Delhi.
With its well established
campus wing in Shivaji
College and professional wing
based in Delhi and Mumbai,
brand 'Vayam' is on its way to
grow bigger and popular

response and support from art
organisations, media houses
a n d s p o n s o r s , M a l a n g
Performing Arts Society is
surely an event to look
forward to in the coming years
Mosaic ‘16 to Hundred Years Celebration

Well the fest season ended
with the holiday mood swept
in and all the members who
have worked hard to put up
various events definitely
deserve the long awaited Holi
cum midsem break.
This time the stereotype was
broken and Ramjas college
which previously bore the
brunt of not hosting a
fest...held an enthralling and
unique event prior to Mosaic
2 0 1 6 t h e c e n t e n n i a l
celebrations in January had
been widely applauded for its
grandeur and ambience.
The euphoria still grips my
fingers as I write this report to
eagerly recount the events of
the fest.
DAY 1 (15th March)
Mosaic 2016 began with a
bang on a pleasant and sunny
Tu e s d a y ( 1 5 t h M a r c h )
m o r n i n g . A c o l o r r u n
marathon was organized
u r g i n g w o m e n
empowerment. It was a long
t h r e e k i l o m e t e r s r u n
commencing from Ramjas
college spanning the North
c a m p u s u p t o
Vishwavidhyalayametro
station and back to Ramjas.
This was the maiden color run
being organized so far in the
history of Delhi University
with Deputy Commissioner
of Anti-corruption Bureau as
the Chief Guest. This event
was sponsored by ROPOSO -
a fashion social network who
also provided t-shirts to all
participating students. About
2000 students registered for
the event and it was termed a
grand success.
The colors, excitement and
e u p h o r i a g a v e R a m j a s
college a picturesque hue.
To add to all the color an
artistic tinge was added by the
display of street art in
a s s o c i a t i o n w i t h M T V
junkyard project.
An intercollegiate fashion
show entertained the students
with eye candy performances
and innovative displays.
There were 9 participating
teams and the event was
judged by Suraj Soni (
Ramjas Fashion society) and
S t e f f i P a t e l ( m o d e l ,
upcoming actress).
The prime highlight of the
day was the visit of ' Kapoor
and Sons' cast. All the girls
w e r e m e s m e r i s e d b y
charming Siddarth Malhotra
and charismatic Fawad Khan.
The boys were definitely
captured by cute Alia Bhatt.
The crowd set cheering for
Alia's birthday singing a '
Happy Birthday 'chorus.
With an eventful day coming
to an end everyone looked
forward to the events of
Mosaic Day 2.
DAY 2(16th March)
The annual dance show
organized by Ramjas Dance
society set the beat for the
day. This contest had eleven
participating teams which
captured the audience with
striking hit numbers and
energetic steps.
Maharaja Agrasen Institute of
Technology's " Funk in
motion" bagged the first
place.
A series interesting events
was organized like blind
dating, Friends- The series
quiz and beg borrow and
steal.
From its name blind dating
managed to garner a good
amount of audience and
randomly chosen couples we
asked to perform a series of
tasks like balloon dancing,
three legged race etc.
Well the euphoria burst was
witnessed in the grand
evening with two jam packed
energetic performances lined
back to back.
Gurnaam Bhullar made the
audience move to his catchy
Punjabi beats and power
performance. Then Anushka
Manchanda 's concert added
the silver lining to the
e v e n i n g . A l l a h d u h a i ,
chumma chumma de de,
Manwa emotional laage etc
were some hit numbers which
was performed.
Mosaic 2016 was a success
and was largely enjoyed by
a l l . I t w a s a f e s t t h a t
epitomized- fun, euphoria
and team work .
