YOUNG
PEOPLE
HAVE THEIR
SAY ON
More than 200 young people
took part in Healthwatch
Northumberland’s Young
People’s Health Survey, an
online questionnaire asking
what young people think of the
health services, support and
information on offer in
Northumberland.
This survey was carried out through 1001
Voices, a project run by Northumberland
County Council’s Youth Service, with help from
some of Healthwatch Northumberland’s young
volunteers. Healthwatch Northumberland is the
independent consumer champion for health and
social care services across the county.
The findings revealed a broad range of positive
and negative feelings towards health services
and the quality of support and information on
offer. Young people identified “mental health,
emotions and stress” as the most important
aspect of health to them.
The findings also show that young people know
mental health services exist but are not told
how to access them. Others have had
difficulties making appointments with mental
health services and faced long waits.
