The Emerald Bay Recreation Department is excited
for another amazing summer in the bay!! We have been
working hard to continue to create the best possible
summer camp program the bay has seen. Like last year,
we are excited to offer the addition of full time Art, Science,
and Sports specialists that will focus on creating fun and
exciting games and projects in their specialty. In addition,
we have worked hard to keep growing and building
our summer beach camp in the afternoons. We hope
you will choose to join us for what promises to be the best
summer in Emerald yet!!
Meet Heather Deon, our new Camp Director!
TINY TOTS
Children Ages 3 and Under
With the action and excitement of the Main Gate
project underway, the Summer of 2016 Tiny Tot program
will be shifting gears and relocating to a new area in
Emerald Bay. Every morning, Tiny Tot participants will
meet in the Canyon Park, located on the pool road. With
the canyon as their home base, Tiny Tot kids will be able
to participate in all of the same programs and activities
they have been able to enjoy in the past, but away from
the construction associated with the Main Gate project.
Aside from avoiding the construction, the true benefit
of this change is that Tiny Tot participants will have the
chance to learn and grow, away from our older campers.
This will ensure all programming is 100% age-appropriate
and distraction free.
Like last summer, the Tiny Tots summer program will
include the addition of educational activities, such as
counting games and letter of the day activities, as well as
a daily trip to the firehouse so that snack time, story time,
and learning time can be done in a more classroomlike
setting. In addition, the new Tiny Tots will include
organized weekly swim programs as part of camp. These
changes, along with many others, will ensure that your
kids will not only be well cared for, but they will leave
every session of Tiny Tots with a greater understanding of
structure as well as important educational lessons.
SPECIAL NOTE – Parents, please send Tiny Tots with
an extra change of clothes, swimwear and towel, and
lunch and snacks. Wednesday: Wet Day – Send kids with
bathing suit and towel.
YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!!
VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS
Station 11 is a Reserve Fire Station, meaning
that it is completely staffed by volunteers from
the community. We are always interested in
meeting residents of Emerald Bay and the
surrounding areas who are interested in serving
their community by becoming a volunteer fire
fighter. Volunteers are trained like professionals,
and learn to use the equipment and respond to emergency medical and
firefighting situations just like a pro. The next Reserve Fire Fighter Academy for
Orange County Fire Authority will begin sometime this summer. If you have
any questions or would like more information about joining our station, please
call (949)494-6933 or visit www.ocfa.org.
CERT
“CERT” stands for Community Emergency Response Team. Our Emerald Bay team
is a trained group of your friends and neighbors who are ready to respond here in
Emerald Bay to a fire, earthquake, or other emergency. We are always looking for new
volunteers, and our Emerald Bay team needs you! Please contact Walt Jacobs, our Zone Leader Coordinator, at
(949)494-4987 to become a CERT volunteer.
BEAUTIFY THE BAY
The Beautify the Bay Committee provides recommendations and guidance based on the aesthetic traditions
of Emerald Bay. Many of the color schemes and planting choices within the common areas and facilities originated
from the work of Beautify the Bay. The Committee also recognizes a beautiful Emerald Bay home or garden in each
edition of The Tide newsletter.
SPECIAL EVENT COMMITTEES
Why not lend your enthusiasm and expertise and have a wonderful time, too? The Emerald Bay Special Events
Committees volunteer their time to help plan the many wonderful events everyone enjoys! These events are
opportunities to bring the Emerald Bay community together and make new memories and new friends! Here are
some of the special events for which you might like to volunteer:
ST. PATRICK’S DAY – The Wearing of the Green – a day when everyone is Irish!
MEMORIAL DAY – Parades and Picnics! Music and Fun! A family day to share!
HALLOWEEN – Spooky and fun for all! Tricks and Treats galore!
