Situated in an area of rich biodiversity in the
malaria-free Eastern Cape, a mere hour’s drive from Port
Elizabeth, Pumba Private game Reserve offers you an
intimate African experience never to be forgotten.
Pumba is home to Africa’s Big Five, as well as to
the famous white lion, hippo, hyena, cheetah, giraffe,
wild dog and 21 antelope species. Many of these drift
in clear view of the main deck and pool areas at both
lodges. Pumba is also a bird enthusiast’s dream, with an
abundant 270 species of birds.
guests can partake in an array of activities,
including guided bush walks with experienced rangers,
game drives aboard luxury custom-made Land Rovers,
thrilling nocturnal drives, birding safaris with spectacular
sightings, relaxed bass fishing, star-gazing under
the amazing African night sky, and archery under
trained supervision. Off-reserve activities include golf,
horseback rides on the beach, skydiving and scubadiving,
for which transfers can be arranged.
After an exciting day in the bush, you could choose
from any of the treatments provided by the Soul Spa –
such as bamboo massages, body wraps and hot stone
therapy – or enjoy a workout in the glass-enclosed gym.
Dining is a sublime experience. You could dine
indoors or out, on one of the main decks, where
the herd of elephants will form your ‘out of Africa’
backdrop. The menus consist of African fusion cuisine
with an Eastern Cape Flair, complemented by a
collection of the best local wines.

luxurious lodges.
Water Lodge, on the banks of Lake Cariega,
comprises luxurious stone and thatch chalets. From your
own game-viewing deck, slip into your secluded plunge
pool, cocktail in hand, or take an outdoor shower to the
music of lapping water.
Msenge Bush Lodge overlooks the Cariega River
floodplain and the Zuurberg mountains. Although
the glass walls allow uninterrupted viewing of nearby
wildlife, each chalet is completely secluded, with its own
sun deck, plunge pool and outdoor shower.
