A Tale of Timekeeping Evolution for 170 Years 

Founded in 1846 by 23-year-old Ulysse Nardin, 

the brand, which still bears his name, carries on 

his entrepreneurial spirit, always thinking about

Some of the most notable accomplishments 

include the introduction of iconic timepieces like 

the 1996 Perpetual Calendar, where the calendar 

can be set forward and backward with ease and is 

the root of this timepiece family; and the 

2001 Freak, which tells time by its movement, not 

by its hands. The Freak set the stage for 

Ulysse Nardin’s presentation of novel 

mechanisms. And it is the Marine collection that 

anchors Ulysse Nardin’s past to the ocean while 

casting its seafaring skills on today’s exemplary 

Marine Diver and Marine Chronometer. 

Other cutting-edge advancements comprise

incorporate the use of silicium technology, and the

AMICO & CO 

REFIT OR REBUILD? 

A major 16-month conversion project is 

approaching completion at the Amico &Co 

shipyard in Genoa, Italy. The motoryacht, formerly 

known as Delma, has been extended from 85m 

to 91.5m and is about to enter the commissioning 

and certification phase after completely rebuilding 

and/or refitting all areas of the vessel. 

It is the largest and most extensive refit project 

undertaken by Amico & Co to date and one of 

the largest projects of its kind ever attempted, 

requiring a dedicated team of 9 in-house project 

managers and technical superintendents 

working in close collaboration with the owner’s 

representative team, headed up by Wim 

Koersvelt. The hugely complex conversion, 

involving an average of 200 personnel on 

the project at any one time, has been carried 

out in the shipyard’s 102m covered dry-dock 

inaugurated in 2014. 

Built to passenger vessel standards and 

Lloyds Register classification, the megayacht is 

scheduled to be completed in record time. With 

her new Marshall Islands flag, the yacht will be 

able to carry 36 guests, together with 36 crew 

members plus additional staff. 

New features have been incorporated into 

both the interior and exterior design to provide 

outstanding comfort and amenities. These include 

a huge whirlpool with integrated sunpad for 

lounging on the sundeck, new spa and relaxation 

zones, and a new floodable tender garage on the 

lower aft deck that can be converted into a heated 

seawater swimming pool. State-of-the-art audio, 

video and monitoring systems have been installed 

throughout and 80 per cent of the interiors have 

been refurbished. 

“We have been investing in our facilities and 

human resources with precisely this kind of largescale 

engineering project in mind,” says CEO 

Alberto Amico. “It is thanks to these investments 

and the teamwork of our in-house departments 

with all their technical experience and knowhow 

that we have been able to perform such a 

challenging refit.”

Azimut 66 makes its debut 

With turnover up by 23% over the last three 

years, Azimut Yachts, the Azimut/Benetti Group, 

the world’s leading builder of yachts over 24m 

in length, have announced that they will be 

launching 14 new models across the company’s 

five collections in the upcoming three-year period 

with the Azimut 66 making its debut as the latest

It’s now only a month until this year’s London 

Yacht, Jet and Prestige Car Show kicks off, and

became mister unpopular and decided to run for 

President. While there we saw Lurssen’s latest

the background which was nice as we’d seen her 

only a few months earlier on the River Thames. It 

was Tartan Week too in New York, an event where 

America recognises Scottish business, people 

and culture. It was a proud moment to hear a lone 

Piper at the Ground Zero monument, with a floral 

reef from the Scottish Government around the 

infamous Survivor Tree. 

In London, we’re sure to have a great welcome 

too, as our fighting for independence is now 

behind us and we’re living happily alongside our 

English cousins again in peaceful harmony. Well, 

until the next debate that is. This year, it’s another 

fight for independence: the UK being independent 

from Europe. At Lomond Yachts we work 

internationally as well as within Europe, and we 

don’t see things changing whatever the outcome.

Jet and Prestige Car Show – an event for the 

superyacht and luxury asset management

management services for over twenty years,

by Forum members. 

The Forum was founded in 2004 to promote

based on the Island and now has more than thirty

are not exclusive to Isle of Man solutions. Many

The Noble M600 has been developed by a 

small team passionate about driving. This evolved 

from our research of the available ‘supercars’ most 

of which lean heavily on computer assistance. 

We at Noble Automotive think it is time to break 

the mould, feeling that this now ubiquitous ‘digital’ 

driver assistance disengages and negates 

the driver experience and reward. We have 

experienced, when turning off these devices, 

that computer generated support can often 

cosmetically mask and flatter inferior chassis and 

handling characteristics. We decided that with the 

introduction of the M600 it was time to ‘get back 

to basics’, to concentrate on the more ‘analogue’ 

qualities of design by utilising a principle of pure 

engineering integrity from the chassis up, putting 

the driver, back in control. 

The Noble M600 is a car produced not in 

competition to the current supercar establishment, 

but one, we believe, that offers those serious 

about their driving, an alternative philosophy and a 

more rewarding driving experience. 

Although our first love lies with the tactile 

manual gearbox we do understand that for many 

drivers a paddle shift is a preferred option so have 

recently developed an exciting paddle shift option. 

Also to reflect customer demand we are currently 

developing a targa top drophead: the Noble M600 

Speedsterto be launched summer 2016. 

Hand built in England, carbon bodied, rare and 

exclusive, super light and with incredible power, 

the M600 boasts an impressive power to weight 

ratio of 542bhp per ton, but that’s only half the

Which sporting events will generate the most 

private jet business in 2016? 

With such a big year for sports tournaments 

and events, leading aircraft charter specialist, 

Air Charter Service, has said that it expects more 

business from some than others. 

Justin Bowman, ACS’s CEO, commented: 

“2016 is a busy sporting year, with the Olympics in 

Brazil and the European Football Championships 

in France, on top of busy annual tournaments, 

such as the rugby union Six Nations, the 

Super Bowl, the Champions’ League and the 

Kentucky Derby. 

“However, we expect that not all of these will 

prove busy for the charter market. The Olympics, 

for example, takes place over the course of a 

whole month and all in one city. This really means 

that only very few will choose to travel to it in 

the luxury of a chartered jet. We saw very little 

inbound activity in 2012 to the London games. 

We believe that the busiest event will be the 

European Football Championships, with a lot 

of corporate entertainment planned. We have 

already booked almost 50 charters to and from 

the tournament. With matches dotted around 

the country, chartering becomes a much more 

attractive option than coach journeys and high 

prices on scheduled airlines’ flights. 

“Also, with the championships taking place 

in France, day trips are possible from all major 

nations competing, especially the UK, with the 

ability to arrive a few hours before the match, 

soak up the atmosphere, and leave soon after 

the match finishes. And, should a match go to 

penalties, the chartered aircraft will sit and wait for 

the passengers to arrive.” 

ACS has already booked around 5,000 rugby 

fans on chartered aircraft to the Six Nations this 

year, as well as arranging many flights for various 

Champions’ League ties. 

Bowman added: “Depending on who reaches 

the Champions’ League Final at the San Siro 

stadium in Milan, we may see a spike in charter 

demand. For the 2009 final at the Stadio Olimpico 

in Rome between Manchester United and 

Barcelona we flew almost 5,000 fans, sponsors 

and teams.”

for their astonishing Oregon Sunstone neckpiece 

at the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council’s 

annual jewellery competition, often referred to as 

the “Jewellery Oscars”. The award ceremony was 

held on 29th of February at the Goldsmiths’ Hall in 

London. David was delighted to be honoured by 

his peers. 

The Oregon sunstone neckpiece is one of the 

finest examples of exquisite craftsmanship and 

detailed, well thought out design. This award 

winning neckpiece perfectly reflects David’s 

approach to timeless, fine jewellery design with 

high quality coloured gem stones. The piece 

consists of three beautiful, artisan cut Oregon 

sunstones of the highest quality, totalling 45.14 

carats. It holds 148 fantastic quality white 

diamonds, and a mixture of around 100 grams of 

18 carat white and rose gold.

THE AMELIA GRACE 

RAINBOW FUND 

Amelia’s Rainbow supports children with serious 

chronic, life-limiting or terminal illnesses by 

supplying non-means tested grants for holidays, 

days out and memory making activities. The fund 

was set up in memory of Amelia-Grace who died 

in 2010 from an aggressive childhood cancer. We 

aim to create an environment full of fun, laughter, 

achievement and memories through providing 

funds for activities and play which may enrich the 

lives of children who are suffering. 

The Trustees will consider funding holidays, 

family days out, games or toys, social activities 

such as swimming or dancing lessons or any 

other request which they feel supports the aim of 

the charity. 

We are a need driven service. We help children 

by providing funds to create happiness in times 

of need without weeks of waiting for panel 

decisions; because of this we can help families 

when time together may be short. We are unique 

in that we are able to assist children suffering 

from any childhood illness including mental health 

conditions. In this way we can help many more 

children and capture those children who are not 

covered by any other disease specific charity. 

We also have a holiday home in Hampshire. 

Hoburne Naish is a holiday park set on a 

Hampshire cliff-top with panoramic views to the 

Isle of Wight and the Purbecks. This was a place 

we brought Amelia to get away from everything 

when she was ill and she absolutely loved it. 

Our hope is that the holiday home will provide 

countless more happy memories for families that 

are in similar situations to ours, as well as a place 

for them to come if they are grieving. The home 

sleeps 6 and is fully equipped for families to enjoy 

a week’s break, free of charge. 

As a small charity we rely 

entirely on donations and 

fundraising and are both 

humbled and delighted to be 

chosen as a beneficiary charity 

for this amazing event.
