RULES AND REGULATIONS<br />
1. That the Society shall be called the <strong>Skelton</strong> Horticultural and Agricultural Society.<br />
THE OBJECTS OF THE SOCIETY<br />
The objects of the Society shall be:-<br />
(a) To promote the interests of those engaged in farming and agriculture in the area by facilitating the<br />
co-operation of farmers, horticulturists and others interested with a view to the improvement of<br />
farm animals, and the production of better crops, and to encourage the adoption of efficient<br />
methods of farming.<br />
(b) To grant facilities for demonstrations, discussions and the interchange of information and ideas<br />
for practical and educational purposes in conjunction with the County Education and Advisory<br />
Staffs.<br />
(c) To contribute to, assist or co-operate with, any Society or Association whose objects are in whole<br />
or part similar to those of the Society.<br />
(d) To accrue any real property which the Society may think necessary for the promotion of its objects.<br />
2. A President, President-Elect, Vice-Presidents and other Officials shall be elected each year at the<br />
Annual General Meeting of the Society, which shall be held every year in or about the month of<br />
January. The financial year shall be from the 1st November to 31st October each year and the<br />
Accounts will be closed and balanced on the latter date.<br />
3. The <strong>Show</strong> will be held on the first Saturday in July each year unless the Committee decide otherwise.<br />
4. A Management Committee shall be appointed yearly at the Annual Meeting of the Society, to<br />
consist of not less than Thirty Members, one third to retire annually, but are eligible for re-election<br />
with other nominations at the Annual General Meeting. This Committee shall have power to<br />
arrange matters relating to the Society and to revise Rules and Regulations, but not less than<br />
fifteen members of the committee shall have power to act. The Committee shall appoint their own<br />
Chairman and Vice-Chairman, who will take office after the presentation of the Annual Financial<br />
Report at the General Meeting.<br />
5. That any retiring chairman be automatically made a vice-president. Any committee member will<br />
be made a Vice President after 40 years service and Life Members after 50 years.<br />
6. The competent Judges for all exhibits be appointed by the Committee at the Autumn Meeting.<br />
7. No prize shall be awarded unless entry pronounced to be of sufficient merit; that no<br />
exhibit can be exhibited for more than one of the Society’s Premiums (Special Prizes<br />
excepted).<br />
8. That all Exhibitors make a declaration that the exhibits are bona-fide their property, and in the<br />
case of entrants for the Breeders’ Classes ear marks complete with herd allocation Attested<br />
Numbers must be on Entry Forms. Sheep Exhibitors to state on Entry Form if Accredited.<br />
9. That any Exhibitor acting dishonestly will forfeit the right to any and all prize money. Protests (if<br />
any) to be made to Head Steward prior to Judge awarding prizes.<br />
10. That the Management Committee reserve to themselves the right of altering any Judging or <strong>Show</strong><br />
arrangements they deem necessary.<br />
11. That each subscriber of £10 or more (£20 husband and wife) will be deemed a Member of the<br />
Society - (Badge will be issued).<br />
12. That the Agricultural Department be open to all comers, and that the Horticultural Department be<br />
open to amateurs only.<br />
13. That an Amateur shall be understood to be one who does not keep a gardener, or who is not<br />
himself a professional gardener.<br />
14. That all Live Stock be on the ground not later than 9-30 a.m. prompt and not leave before<br />
3-30 p.m. All prizewinning Live Stock to be shown in the Grand Parade.<br />
15. That Marquee Exhibits be in their places by 9-45 a.m. and not to be removed before 4-30 p.m.<br />
without the consent of the Stewards. That anyone infringing this rule will forfeit their claim to all<br />
prize money. All Marquee prize money will be paid on <strong>Show</strong> Day in the marquee at 4-30 p.m.<br />

16. That no Entries be received except on forms supplied by the Secretary, all Entrance Fees must<br />
be paid at the time of entry. Entry Forms and Fee for Telephoned Entries must be in the<br />
hands of the Secretary prior to <strong>Show</strong> Day. Any Exhibitor not having paid will be debarred<br />
from exhibiting.<br />
17. Should any dispute arise the decision of the Committee shall be final and without appeal, and the<br />
Committee have the right to refuse any Entry which they consider to be contrary to the Rules.<br />
18. Every care will be taken of Exhibits, but the Committee will not be responsible for any loss or<br />
damage.<br />
19. The Society do not accept any responsibility for accidents or disease to persons, property or<br />
animals sustained at their annual show, howsoever caused.<br />
20. HORSE EXHIBITORS ARE REQUESTED NOT TO EXHIBIT ANY ANIMAL WITH ‘THE<br />
COUGH’. The Hon. Vet has authority to request the Exhibitor of any animal reported<br />
coughing on the field to withdraw immediately.<br />
21. Notices regarding current Health & Safety Regulations must be observed at all times.<br />
22. Perpetual Cup Winners are responsible for the safe keeping and return of the Cups to the<br />
Society not later than following show day.<br />

Rules and Guidelines<br />
• Entries must be in the hands of the Equestrian Secretary by FRIDAY 17th JUNE 2016, late<br />
entries will not be accepted.<br />
• Entry Fees: £7.00 per class (£10.00 minimum if only one class entered).<br />
• Please ensure cheques are made payable to ‘<strong>Skelton</strong> <strong>Show</strong>’.<br />
• No entries will be accepted unless on the correct ‘Horse Classes Only’ official entry form and all<br />
fees must be paid at time of entry.<br />
• Any errors on the entry form will not be refunded.<br />
• All exhibitor numbers will be available at the Equestrian Secretary’s tent on show day, please<br />
ensure the correct number is being worn for the correct class.<br />
• <strong>Show</strong> and vehicle passes are not required.<br />
• Please check your relevant section for judging commencement times.<br />
• All prize winning Horses and Ponies from completed classes to be shown in the Grand Parade.<br />
• Non Grand Parade Trophies will be available from the Equestrian Secretary’s Tent between<br />

Particulars of Competition<br />
Competitors will be required to inspect a course of obstacles on foot. A judges walk through will also take place before the competition<br />
begins. They will then be inspected mounted and awarded marks up to a maximum of 10 points for turnout and safety of horse and rider,<br />
the value of tack not to be taken into consideration. On sounding of a bell or whistle each competitor will be required to pass between two<br />
flags and carry out a course of tests, in a given time. Failure to complete the course in the correct order and time allowed will result in<br />
elimination. Each test will be judged separately on (a) horsemanship and (b) performance. Committee reserve the right to alter particulars.<br />
