Ray Benson’s Birthday Bash
Ray Benson celebrated his birthday in style this year with
an all-star bash in March, and he chose Health Alliance for
Austin Musicians as the beneficiary of the festivities. It was
an amazing evening of great music, food and fun! Thank you,
Ray, for sharing your big day with HAAM. We are looking
forward to helping you celebrate again in 2012.
Corporate Battle of the Bands
“Cirrus Logic proudly supports HAAM and Corporate Battle
of the Bands because we love live music and appreciate
the gifts that local musicians give us. Helping musicians
get access to health care through HAAM is one way we can
give back to these artists. And frankly, Corporate Battle
of the Bands is a lot of fun for our employees. In 2011, the
Cirrus Logic Guitar Orchestra, which is our third and newest
band, took the stage and won Fan Favorite. We’re excited to
support the Corporate Battle of the Bands again at Antone’s

Cirrus Logic and H-E-B presented the fourth annual
Corporate Battle of the Bands fundraiser and concert on
Thursday, April 28. Bands made up of business professionals
who play music as a hobby competed against each other in
front of celebrity judges and a packed house at Antone’s to
raise awareness and funds for HAAM.
Congratulations to all of the year’s participants — you
were great! A special thank you to event co-chairs Melanie
Plummer and Rose Reyes for your leadership of the event
and to committee members Amanda Garcia, Roxanne
Rouse, Tracy Schell, Darlene Starr and Amy Welborn.
HAAM invites business professionals who love to play live
music to join in the 2012 Corporate Battle of the Bands on
Thursday, April 19.
Holiday HAAM Jam Volume 1
HAAM received an amazing holiday gift this year! The
Holiday HAAM Jam album developed from a whimsical
thought by Dr. Shane Matt of Authentic Smiles Dental Studio.
Rod Williams and Dr. Matt decided to have a holiday party,
record it, and sell CDs to raise money for HAAM. Dr. Matt
approached Mark Addison, of the Aerie Recording Studio,
to engineer the recording but Addison convinced him to do
it right and volunteered his studio and services to make an
album. It became a dream come true after recruiting singersongwriter
Wendy Colonna to organize the project. In less
than two weeks the idea went from conception to recording
nine songs in ten hours on a Sunday afternoon. No small
feat with nearly thirty musicians to play! At the same time
Daddies Juju and David Garza recorded their songs at
studios in New Orleans and El Paso. The remaining five
songs had been previously recorded and were added before
mastering by Mark Hallman at The Congress House Studio.
In less than a month nearly forty musicians and industry
professionals came together to create an album to support
healthcare for Austin musicians.

Good Eggs & HAAM
Good Eggs & HAAM is a community of Austin music lovers
that are passionate about live music, understand that
musicians are a unique and important cultural and economic
resource for Austin, and have a desire to give back and
support musicians’ health care. Good Eggs educate the
community about HAAM and its mission and support the
organization through an annual monetary contribution.
Additionally, Good Eggs participate in social networking
events and fundraising events throughout the year that
allow opportunities to advocate for musicians’ health.
