Orbit Security Ltd is in business for over 19 years, founded in Donegal in June 1998 we now offer a 

full suite of security solutions nationally including:

Starting the Business with only 2 employees Orbit Security has grown from strength to strength over 

the years and currently employees over 70 full time staff in our offices in Donegal, Dublin and 

Galway.

All our engineers who take pride in offering the highest level of customer service and care are fully 

trained in all the latest technology and meet all requirements set out by the PSA and NSAI. Orbit 

Security is manned 24hrs a days 365 days a year between our head office in Pinehill Industrial, 

Mountain Top, Letterkenny and our manned Control room outside business hours. Our control 

facility is fully PSA approved and deals with all our Alarm Activations, Customer calls and Lone 

Worker Command and Control Calls giving you the peace of mind that you will always be protected. 

The control facility operates to Orbit Security/Client protocol, which is established at the outset. 

These protocols are reviewed and tested regularly to ensure response times are maintained and 

upheld. Response times are also reviewed after each activation or request against standards and 

reported to the client. This review procedure is carried by Orbit Security Ltd. All security 

information relating to a client is held in secure facilities to ensure their integrity. The use of a 





control facility offers our client the highest level of reassurance rather than the traditional on call 

mobile number guaranteeing all calls are accepted, logged and dispatched to the required person 

24hrs a day.

It is by providing our services to these and other customers on a regular basis that Orbit Security Ltd 

have established themselves as a significant security provider nationwide. Unique in its structure 

Orbit Security Ltd provide a full suite of services to its customers including, Security Systems as 

outlined in this tender, Key Holding, Alarm Response, Mobile Patrol and Man-Guarding. While not 

central to this tender these additional services have often proven to be the difference between a 

customer having a security system and enjoying the comfort of the security experience.

Maintenance of Security Products from the NSAI.

Orbit Security is also licenced by the Private Security Authority (PSA) for both Security Services and 

Systems. 





Project Design 

During the designing and selection of the security systems for the new Pramerica Campus “The 

Rock” we have considered all relevant systems and have selected the components carefully with the 

help and consultation of systems manufactures to ensure the system included in the design meets 

all the requirements of the document as well as limiting any future maintenance issues or down time 

of the system. 

We have selected to engage Pramerica’s first choice suppliers on all system except the Intruder 

Alarm. We have chosen to design the system based on HKC for the following reasons: 

• All our Engineers have in-depth knowledge and training on the product. 

• Reliability and backup support 

• Stock Item held at all times. 

• Product and spares availability 

• Ease of use and expansion 

• Smart APP Functions 

• HKC is an Irish based manufactured product meeting the highest standards within the 

industry

To Supply, Install and commission security systems in the new Pramerica Campus “The Rock” as 

outlined in the referenced tender document and to include a maintenance contract for the following 

systems to include 2 annual visits per calendar year. Deliver the highest standard of installation to 

meet and exceed customer expectation. 

Intruder Alarm 

Design, Install and Commission an Intruder Alarms system to protect the outlined areas of the 

building during pre-defined hours and all perimeter Doors 24hrs a day. A shunt switch will be fitted 

on all perimeter doors to allow the doors to be opened if required. Shunt switches (Overwrite 

Switches) will be installed at each door to allow authorised users bypass the doors alarm. The 

system shall notify onsite security and our 24hr Monitoring Station of all activations. Our monitoring 

Station will be supplied with a list of Key holders that will be contacted in the event of an activation 

in the order of preference. The system will have 3nr Digital Keypads fitted in agreed areas which will 

display all system information including Alarms, Tampers and System Faults. All System information 

will be transmitted to our monitoring station via a Digital Voice Modem over the PSTN Line and will 

be supported by the fitted GSM/GPRS device to ensure failsafe communication of all activations. 

Access Control System – Vanderbilt SMS 

Design, Install and Commission of an access control system to be Vanderbilt SMS on outlined in the 

tender document to secure all defined doors, gates, turnstiles and barriers. The system will initially 

comprise of:

1 Revolving Door. 

The System Design includes all features required including timed schedules on defined doors, 

Manual overwrite of all door if required and expansion headroom on the system for future 

additions. We have also included Vanderbilt PSU unit to ensure reliability of the system as 3 rd party 

units have been proven to cause maintenance issues with voltage irregularities. 

The System is designed using the latest version of SMS, Version 6.3 as recommended by the manufacture to 

ensure all features of the hardware are exploited. All other systems on the Pramerica Network will require an 

update to the current version of the software to be compatible with the new system. 

CCTV System - Avigilon 

Design, install and commission CCTV systems to cover the outlined areas of the perimeter of the 

building, car parks and predefined internal locations. 

All Images will be recorded onto installed NVR/Servers with live viewing available to Security 

personal in the following locations: 

• Reception Security Desk 

• Security Gate House. 

Both Locations will have full control of the systems including camera control, Playback and any 

system notifications. Authorised Management will be set-up with remote access to the system at 

their workstations or offices. 

The System is designed to capture and maintain 90Days footage in all communication rooms and 

IDF/Security Room and 30Days in all other areas at no less than 10fps. Recording will be activated by 

motion detection and will record pre-programmed time frame pre and post the movement event. 

The pre-programmed time normally ranges from 5 to 10 seconds meaning the system will maintain 

footage 5/10 seconds before the movement event, all of the movement and 5/10 seconds after the 

movement event ends. The System will also be configured to operate using video analytics to aid in 

securing the site.

All component parts form part of the maintenance contract and are included in the Bi-Annual service 

visits. Each component is tested to ensure its operational capability. 

All notifications to the monitoring station will be followed by a notification to the key holders who 

have the responsibility of reacting to the activation. 

Control Panel 

HKC 20140 Hybrid Alarm Panel 

Standards: 

EN 50131-1: GRADE 2 Class II (EXPLAIN WHAT CLASSES ARE???)

BS8243/PD6662 Compliant 

The HKC 20140 Hybrid Panel offers both wired and wireless technology giving the ender user 

flexibility for additional devices to be added should further expansion be required. The System is 

modular based and can be expanded to 140 zone including up to 13 expanders also allowing for 

future expansion of the system. 

The Control Panel supports both DTV Digital PSTN Diallers and GSM units adding extra security with 

dual reporting. The 20140 also support the HKC Smart app allowing control and monitoring of the 

full system from smart phones and tablets. This app can be provided to onsite security, which would 

offer them a live helicopter view of the system at the touch of a button. The information provided to 

the app includes: 

• Current Alarm Status 





• Alarm Faults 

• Alarm Logs 

• Push Notifications of events live 

• Alarm control including Arming, Disarming, Omitting a zone, Input/output Control 

• Control of all Areas and blocks individually 

The Control Panel can be split into 8 blocks and 1 common area allowing the end user to set the 

alarm in blocks rather than the complete building. This unit is fitted with a monitored tamper switch, 

which will notify the monitoring station and display a fault on the keypad/App of any interference to 

the panel without authorisation from Pramerica. 

Remote Keypads 

HKC Slimline Keypad 

Standards: 

EN50131-3: Grade 2 Class II 

The Remote keypad boasts a Slim line design to fit any application. The Keypad is fitted with a 

Graphic LCD display and offers full audio description of any events. Up to 8 Keypads can be added to 

the system. This unit is fitted with a monitored tamper switch, which will notify the monitoring 

station and display a fault on the keypad/App. 

External SAAB 

HKC External SAAB (Siren and Strobe) 

Standards: 

EN50131-4 Grade 2 Class IV 

The External SAAB is housed in a polycarbonate Housing with a Screen Printed Lid. The Unit has 

adjustable volume levels with an output of 100db @ 1m. The unit is also fitted with a high intensity 

LED Strobe. This unit will engage if the alarm is activated. This unit is individually fitted with a 

monitored tamper switch, which if interfered with will notify the monitoring station and display a 

fault on the keypad/App. 

Internal Sounder Echo 

HKC Internal Echo Siren with Flash 

Standards: 

EN50131-4 Grade 2 Class II 

The Internal Echo is housed in a polycarbonate Housing. The Unit has adjustable volume levels with 

an output of 104db @ 1m. The unit is also fitted with a high intensity LED Strobe. As with the 

external SAAB will engage if the alarm is activated. This unit is fitted with a monitored tamper 

switch, which if interfered with will notify the monitoring station and display a fault on the 

keypad/App. 





Door Contacts 

HKC Heavy Duty Door Contact 

Standards: 

EN50131-2-6 & EN50131-2-8 

HKC Door contacts offers dual protection detecting both the opening of the door as well as vibration 

should someone try to force the door open or break the glass. This unit is fitted with a monitored 

tamper switch, which if interfered with will notify the monitoring station and display a fault on the 

keypad/App. 

360 Degree PIR 

Bosch DS936 Low Profile Panoramic PIR 

Standards: EN50131-1 Grade 2 

The ceiling mount, low profile panoramic DS936 PIR Detector uses alternate polarity pulse count. It 

also uses a pointable Fresnel lens to provide up to 7.5 m (24 ft) of coverage and can be mounted on 

the surface, or semi-flush directly to a ceiling or a standard octagonal electrical box. This unit is fitted 

with a monitored tamper switch, which if interfered with will notify the monitoring station and 

display a fault on the keypad/App. 

PIR Movement Sensors 

HKC Quad PIR 

Standards: EN50131-2-2 Grade 2 Class II 

The HKC Quad PIR with Quad Pyro offers proven liability and innovative features including 15m 

Detection range, Build-in EOL Resistors, Close in Detection, Adjustable Sensitivity, Noise Immunity 

and Temperature Compensation. This unit is fitted with a monitored tamper switch, which if 

interfered with will notify the monitoring station and display a fault on the keypad/App. 

Diallers/Communicators 

HKC DTV Digital Dialler 

Standards: EN 50136-1, ATS2 Class II 

The DTV is a plug on dialler that transmits all alarms to the control room. The HKC DTV comes fitted 

with a DSL filter for ease of use with install broadband on site. The unit is monitored for Line Faults 

which will be displayed on the Keypad/App. 

HKC GSM-SC 

Standards: EN50136-1 

The HKC GSM-SC serves two purposes, as well as acting as a backup unit, the GSM-SC can also send 

texts to on site security offering the client dual monitoring via SMS and the Control Room. The unit is 

fitted with a world SIM, which will automatically find the strongest network. The unit also is fitted 

with a jam detect module and is monitored for line faults to ensure guaranteed security.

Boon Edam Speedlane 300 

The Simple but Secure Speed Gate 

Whereas the Speedlane 900 is a high-end speed gate that meets the strict requirements of large 

corporate buildings, the Speedlane 300 is simpler, offering a strict level of security with beautiful 

design. The Speedlane 300 is a speed gate that can therefore be a support to the security guards and 

receptionists in keeping track of the visitors and staff entering a building, ensuring only authorised 

users can enter certain areas. This beautifully designed speed gate offers simple but effective 

options and is thus extremely well suited to applications where a beautiful design and user 

friendliness take preference. 

User Friendly Design 

The Speedlane 300 consists of two elliptical units with angel door wings that retract into the units to 

allow passage to authorised users. Most striking about this entry solution are the lights that have 

been integrated in the angel wings. Illuminating the door wings green when the lane is ready for use 

and red to indicate that the door wings are closing or that an alarm has been triggered: The visitor 

immediately recognises whether to enter the lane or wait for assistance.

Revolving Door

1. 1nr Revolving Door 

Tourniket Aluminium 

The Tourniket was the first revolving door we manufactured; created in 1903, the Tourniket was 

originally constructed mainly from timber and had to be operated manually. Since then its 

construction and the technology within have evolved into a sophisticated and intelligent revolving 

door. The Tourniket is still at the basis of many of the special projects we are involved in as it is an 

incredibly versatile entry solution. Its engineering quality has been proven again and again in many 

different buildings and projects. 





The Tourniket is available in a variety of colors and finishes. In many buildings a powder coated or 

anodised aluminum version is chosen which can be finished in virtually any color you can think of. 

The wood cladded Tourniket takes you back to the early history of the revolving door and gives a 

classic retro look while a stainless steel or mirror finished look can create a modern or even futuristic 

look. This door is a particular favorite of ours. 

Sliding Door 


1. 3nr Automatic Sliding Doors 

BOON EDAM Bi-Parting Door System 

The Boon Edam SLX is a slim line operator with the strength of the larger operators. Operators are 

low voltage microprocessor controlled units with a lockable “BEDIX” diagnostics display and program 

control panel in a local or remote position to the door. The Boon Edam SLX slim line profile system 

incorporates a Torque Sensitivity Program that monitors the force required to open or close the 

doors. If this force suddenly increases the door system will react, i.e.: obstacle when closing, the 

door reacts by re-opening. The Boon Edam SLX system is programmable via the BEDIX, so in the 

event of power failure, the door can either open or close or remain working for 30 minutes and then 

if the power has not returned, to then open or close on last power from the battery. The battery is 

constantly monitored and approximately every 3 to 4 hours the door is powered by the battery to 

ensure there is enough battery power.

Automatic road barrier for openings up to 3.75 m. Soft profiles, rounded edges for a solution that 

blends seamlessly into various installation settings and environments. Fitted with LED flashing light 

to Guarantee total visibility of the light signal. Fitted with a Protective wand casing 

offering protection from any knocks and risks due to wand rotation. Command electronics protected 

by die-cast aluminum casing, it is positioned in such a way as to facilitate any type of intervention. 

The safety photocells are affixed directly to the barrier body without affecting the aesthetics of the 

product.

These automatic gates are manufactured as a modular design. This means that the lower beam 

profile is made up of a small number of combined profiles which is very cost-effective. Through this 

patented design principle, the lower gate beam varies from 200mm to 440mm for the light transit 

widths of up to 15m clear opening.

ACC- Enterprise 

All of the above units will be supplied with Avigilon ACC Enterprise software. Avigilon Control Centre 

(ACC) is an easy to use video management software, and has optimised how security professionals 

manage and interact with high definition video. As a distributed network platform with enterprisedefinition 

surveillance video while intelligently managing bandwidth and storage. Avigilon Control 

Centre can be pre-installed and configured on an Avigilon High Definition Video Appliance, Network 

Video Recorder (NVR) with the industry’s highest NVR network throughput or work as stand-alone

Emmet Mc Namee 

Senior Manager/System Designer 

Emmet has been with Orbit Security for over 4 years and has a long history in working with 

Electronic equipment and systems. Emmet is a fully qualified engineer and is trained in all our 

systems and procedures. Emmet manages the Systems Division within Orbit Security and is 

reasponsible for all Engineers, account management and systems development. Emmet is based in 

our Head Office at the Mountain top which is just under 3km from the new campus. 

Engineers 

Jason Leeper 

Engineer/Supervisor 

Jason has been with Orbit Security for over 3 Years and comes from the electrical background and is 

a fully qualified electrician. Jason is based in primarily Donegal and also oversees larger installations 

in Dublin and Galway. Jason would act as supervisor during the installation in the absence of Emmet 

being onsite. 

Shane Kelly 

Engineer 

Shane has been with Orbit Security for over 2 Years. Shane came to the team as a trainee engineer 

and now holds certificates for Intruder Alarms, CCTV and Access Control. Shane carries out our day 

to day installations and services and also works alongside Jason on other commercial projects. 





All Engineers have been audited by the NSAI and PSA and meet all requirements to install security 

systems and meet current standards. Engineers carry out refresher training on all system provided 

by system manufactures on a yearly basis as part of Orbit Security’s produces. The above engineers 

will be trained on all outlined systems in this tender by the systems manufactures. 

All our engineers hold current Safe Passes and Manual Handling Certificates. 

Only 1 of the above engineers will be granted annual leave at any one time always leaving at least 2 

engineers available to Pramerica throughout the year. 

Orbit Security has built up working partnerships with several electrical and security companies 

throughout Ireland. We work alongside our electrical partners for project of this scale ensuring we 

have the resources to fulfil the project requirements within the established time table. This allows us 

access personal as required who all have knowledge on the requirements of 1 st and 2 nd fixing our 

products. 

We have nominated CMD Electrical for this project to carry out the installation of the Containment 

and 1 st fixing of all phases should we be successful. CMD will also assist in the 2 nd fixing of required 

phases if successful. A reference of CMD electricals work can be obtained from your current 

contractor of the new campus The MC Callion Group as they have completed projects in the past. 

We also work alongside other Security companies through Ireland. In 2013 Orbit Security Introduced 

Guardian-I to our brand. Guardian-I is a monitored CCTV System with a range of different levelled 

systems to aid in securing Construction Sites, Car Dealerships, Vacant Properties to name a few of its 

suitable applications. We Have installed Guardian-I in various site throughout Donegal and nationally 

and currently have over 30 sites live throughout the country for ourselves and as well as other 

security contractors. 

The above situations demonstrate how Orbit Security not only understands the importance of 

working along site other partners but also the scale of work we undertake and manage on a weekly 

basis on a weekly basis. This is all achieved by putting in place the proper account management from 

the outset, relaying information back to the client and good customer care. 





Company Innovation 

While preparing this document we have considered all possibilities and have taken all steps to 

ensure we offer Pramerica the best solutions and service available which, included the following 

steps 

• Vanderbilt Access Control 

We have already traveled to the UK to meet the European distributor of the Vanderbilt SMS 

system, Smart R Distribution. During our visit he consulted with the company directors on 

the design of the system and they have aided us throughout the design stages of this 

project. 

Orbit Security has committed to become a Vanderbilt Partner for Ireland and have 

submitted all applications required to do so. Becoming a Vanderbilt Partner will give Orbit 

Security the following advantages to offer Pramerica a better service 

o Minimum of 2 Engineers will be trained on the latest products and software 

o Spares Stock will be held in our Letterkenny Office at all times 

o Unlimited remote support from Vanderbilt and Smart-R 

o Constant information stream on all product changes and updates 

o Active Demonstration Vanderbilt System in Our Office for engineers to fault find on. 

During our visit to Smart-R we also discussed the options of integrating the CCTV into the 

access control system. Vanderbilt SMS can be integrated with Vanderbilt VMS (Video 

Management System) allowing the two system work side by side presenting a live video 

feed of access requests rather than just a still image saved in the SMS software. 

For Example, this would be ideal in the case of remotely monitoring turnstiles from the 

Security Gate house if the Security Desk was unmanned, the security guard in the gate 

house would have a live feed to cross reference with the image saved on the SMS software 

to deter unauthorised entry with another person’s card. We would be happy to present an 

alternative system design for Vanderbilt VMS if successful in this tender. All existing 

cameras in Pramerica’s current site to be used in phases 2&3 would intergrade with the 

Vanderbilt VMS. 

• Boon Edam 

Also during the design process as recommended we carried out a bit of research on Boon 

Edam and found their products to come highly recommended and even though they were a 

bit more expensive than others we decided to submit our tender using their products based 

on the feedback on their product reliability and customer service. We contacted their sales 

and obtained a quote for all required components listed above. We have also included for 





all their products to be installed and maintained by their own engineers as this is their main 

field of expertise and offers Pramerica the highest level of reliability. 

Although Boon Edam will be carrying out the installations and yearly maintenance, we have 

arranged for Orbit Security’s assigned engineers to receive training from Boon Edam’s 

engineers to ensure we can deal with any technical faults swiftly and promptly to limit down 

time of any components. Orbit Security’s engineers will also have access to remote support 

for all the products should they require. 

• Inova 

Again based on recommendations we carried out the same procedures with Inova and again 

with less expensive options submitted we decided to proceed with Inova based on the 

feedback received to ensure Pramerica the quality of product and service required. We 

again also arranged for our engineers to receive training on all components installed and all 

yearly maintenance to be carried out by Inova direct. 

Although we have a vast number of projects completed on gate automation and barriers we decided 

to use the manufactures for installation and maintenance for the following reasons: 

• The manufactures knowledge of the product and requirements. 

• Smooth Installation Time Frame – Allowing Manufactures to install their own products 

allows for all components to be installed side by side with our engineers for the access 

control components and simplifies the project management 

• Fault Finding – Should a fault arise with any components during installation the manufacture 

will have direct access to spares and eliminates the 3 rd person. 

We have submitted specifications based on the received document and requirements but have also 

added additional features including 

• monitored maglocks with integrated door sensing features to enhance the security of the 

protected areas preventing someone presenting a piece of steel to the lock to disable the 

door ajar feature. The Maglock will sense the door is present of the door to ensure the 

system isn’t getting false data returned to the controller. 

• Audio Aided Break Glasses 

We have included emergency break glass units with an integrated sounder that will not only 

alert the system of its activation but also draw attention to the area were the door has been 

disabled via the break glass. This feature also aids in finding the activated break glass unit 

drawing your attention to the buzzer. All break glass units will be fitted with protected 

covers. 

• Flush Mounted Override Switches 





All External perimeter doors protected by the intruder alarm will be fitted with flush stainless steel 

key switches rather than surface mount switches. This will for the switches 

Maintenance 

Maintenance will be completed on all systems twice yearly. All Appointments will be pre booked 

with authorised personal on site. A full report will be compiled for each service and submitted to the 

clients. A digital record of all calls will be stored on our management system for future records and 

generating an audit trial. 

All system will be fully tested and serviced during the site visits to meet all requirements of the 

project. 

Emergency Callouts 

Orbit Security will have account protocols in place which, will guarantee an engineer to attend site 

within 4 hours for all call out. Orbit Security provide our clients with one 24hr that will reach our 

office during work hours and our control room outside working hours. All calls will be logged and 

dispatched to the closest on call engineer. 

System Design Documents 

If successful Orbit Security will submit a system design manual for each phase to contain the 

following information 

• System Layout Drawing to contain all required information to trace wiring to all components 

of each system including cable routes and numbers. 

• A zone Chart for the intruder Alarm clearly stating the Zone No, Zone Name, Device Type 

and Location Description. 

• A CCTV Camera Guide to Include Camera No, Location, Camera Type and Server Number. 

• Access Control Door Chart to Include Door No, Door Name, Controller Number, Cabinet 

Number. 

A manual will be created for each phase and stored in each of the phases IDF/Security Rooms. 

During the construction of all phases a master manual will be compiled of these manuals to create a 

full system manual. There will be a copy of the master manual submitted and stored in the following 

location 

• Building Supervisors office 

• Security Deck – Atrium 

• Security Gate House 

• Orbit Security’s Head Office 





A log book for each system will be placed in the Security Gate House’s Master Manual to allow an 

engineer’s carrying out works on the system to manually log their visit to the site. The Log books will 

be reviewed during annual service calls and submitted as part of the maintenance reports.
