MÄNNERCHOR GÖTZIS

We have never-ending fun
with singing!
The Male Choir Götzis represents
the most successful
male voices of Vorarlberg.
We are comprised of 50 choir
singers, mostly from Götzis and
the surrounding area, as well as
from remote areas of Vorarlberg.
Every Tuesday night we meet
for our collective rehearsal.
This registered association was
founded in 1900 and is now
under the established and successful
leadership of Oskar Egle.
Our primary unified goal:
Joy while singing!

Through commitment, passion,
but also consistency and
discipline we reach success!
In the last several years, the
Male Choir Götzis reached the
highest grade “excellent” in
several singing evaluations.
A sensational success was the
2nd place at the 2006 Austriawide
contest “Austria Cantat” in
Graz in the category
“Gleichstimmige Chöre”
(“Identical Harmonious Choirs”).
We can´t get enough!

With his leading team, Gerd
directs the “company” Male Choir
Götzis. From year to year, the
qualitative and financial requirements
of our choir grow bigger
and bigger and continue to
increase. However, each single
one of us is willing to act jointly.
In all those years we were able to
keep the familiar and comradely
character, not least through the
far-seeing leadership of our
chairman.

“Joint singing is vibrant life!
Everyone is equally important
and requested. At the same time
each singer puts himself into
service of the overall tone, integrates
and subordinates himself
to eventually get an essential
part of the collective body of the
choir. This team spirit is boosting
us in all our activities.

“Our Ossi” – as he is fondly
called – is the engine, the heart
and soul of the Male Choir Götzis.
It is impossible to point out all his
achievements, qualities and activities!
The ones who know him
eventually come up with an overall
résumé: “Ossi” is a genius and
despite his many labour-intense
activities he always remained
being an amiable person! Words
are not enough to describe his

not only the Male Choir Götzis
but also Vorarlberg’s whole “choir
landscape” was formed – besides
other outstanding choral conductors
– by one specific man: Federal
choral conductor Oskar Egle.
With Oskar Egle, the Male Choir
Gotzis is doubtlessly in possession
of one of the best, most
modern, innovative, active and
well-established contemporary
choral conductor of Vorarlberg.
His ideas are exhaustless, his
energy and his motivational
abilities already legendary.

The repertoire of our choir is
multifaceted and includes works
of various eras and genres:
spiritual and secular choir music
of the renaissance, the classic
and the romantic era, contemporary
compositions, Christmas
songs from all over the world,
drinking songs, spirituals,
evergreens and hit songs.
For us continuing
education is self-

evident!
Continuous singing education
within the scope of our rehearsals,
as well as advanced physical
voice training and training
of the voice and breathing
techniques.
Part of this is the annual
“Singkulinarium” (rehearsal week)
in St. Gerold, Großes Walsertal.

Music is my life!
Clara Sattler
Born in South Tyrol, Clara Sattler
attended the church music school
in Brixen. On the conservatoire in
Bolzano Italy she received her
singing diploma with distinction.
Subsequently, Clara Sattler attended
the University for Music and
Performing Arts in Vienna, where
she received degrees in opera
from Prof. Curt Malm and air and
oratorio from Prof. Kurt Equiluz,
who received the honorary title
“Kammersänger”. She performs
regular concerts and participates
in various opera-productions.
At our performance of Andrew
Lloyd Webber’s Requiem in
2006 Clara Sattler sang solo.
Clara is a voice trainer in great
demand and has attended our
rehearsal weekends in St. Gerold
for many years.

Mathias Clausen
Mathias Clausen received his first
music lessons on the General
Music School Oberwallis. After
his high school degree, Mathias
firstly studied piano and school
music at the Conservatoire de
Lausanne in Switzerland.
Afterwards, he majored in piano
and organ performance at the
Academy for Music and Theatre
in Zurich.
As a pianist...
In January 2004, Mathias Clausen
received his concert diploma
for piano from Hans Jürg Strub.
In June 2006, he received his
concert diploma for piano chamber
music and accompaniment
from Ulrich Koella.
Besides his concert performances
as pianist, vocal accompanist,
and chamber musician,
Mathias acts as a permanent
accompanist for various choirs.
He teaches at the Conservatoire
Cantonal de Musique in Sion
and at the Collège de Léman in
Renens.

Götzis
The municipality Götzis lies in the
middle of Vorarlberg’s Rhine Valley
and has a population of 11.002
inhabitants. Götzis is the biggest
municipality of the so called
“Kummenregion”. Within 30 minutes
one can traverse a main part
of Vorarlberg and a big part of the
Lake Constance, Lindau (D), the
skiing paradise Montafon, St.
Gallen (CH), the Bregenzer
Forest, Vaduz (FL) or a excursion
steamboat of the Lake Constance
navigation. Götzis achieved his
worldwide fame through the annual
international athletic championships
