(A) The Flowers of Peace with Cuatro Puntos
(starting a European tour), Helen & Charlotte
Ostafew & friends
Saturday 28th May, 7.30pm | The Swanage School, Swanage
BH19 2PH
In countries such as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, centuries of beautiful
musical and artistic traditions are being lost in the face of violence on
all sides. Musicians, such as those of Cuatro Puntos as well as recent
Purbeck singer Helen Ostafew and friends do their part by working
across cultures and continents to help spread the message and beauty
of local traditions. The evening will include film footage of young, and
in particular female, Afghan musicians at the Afghanistan National
Institute of Music, an organisation which continues to provide an
extraordinary learning environment for all its students regardless of
gender, ethnicity or social circumstances and despite the attack on the
Institute just over a year ago by a suicide bomber.
Join us for a unique experience as we celebrate artists who reach out to
spread peace, tolerance and understanding in an exceptional evening
that crosses boundaries and seeks to unite through the power of music.
