Dear Parents and Alumni,
Another school year is in the books! Throughout the past
year, many steps were taken to improve the overall quality of the
chapter. We saw many new faces step up and assume leadership
roles as well as more people speaking up in chapter meetings to
discuss numerous topics and issues. I can speak for all the brothers
when I say that the progress made towards the end of this
semester has us very optimistic for the school year ahead. We of
course would like to congratulate Tommy Ahearn on graduating
just a few weeks ago, as he is now an alumnus of this chapter. We
are also excited to announce that fourteen new members were
initiated in our brotherhood this past year and as always we look to
increase that number this coming fall. Throughout the summer
the prudential board has been and will remain in touch in order to
sufficiently prepare for fall recruitment and other events for the fall
semester. As always, if you have any questions feel free to email
me at any time.
Dear Parents and Alumni,
This past year has been one of growth for our chapter. Having
only lost one brother to graduation, our numbers have remained
solid and will only increase with our upcoming fall pledge class. In
addition, I feel that our chapter took big steps this past semester
whether it be our academics, prudential board meetings, or
intramural teams. Numerous brothers received recognition on the
honor roll and deans, and a few were appointed leadership positions
in organizations outside the fraternity. Many of our prudential board
members will be in their third or fourth year in the fraternity, which
means the leadership and expertise on our board should guide us
through a very successful school year. With football season fast
approaching, we would like to remind all of our alumni to stop by
our tailgate on game days if you are in town. You can contact our
alumni chair, Brandon Garzione, for information regarding the time
and location of the tailgate. I look forward to meeting and speaking
with many of you soon.
Academics and Awards
This past year we had many accomplishments within the chapter.
Three brothers, Will Edwards, Gabe Cabrera, and Mitch McMillen, all received
academic recognition awards from the fraternity for receiving a 4.0 GPA.
Outside the fraternity, brother Will Bounds was appointed SGA Director of
Student Experience and Jake Otey is now an ambassador for the university MIS
program. Our seven annual awards were given out at our last chapter meeting of
the year. The first five awards represent our five values (Silence, Charity,
Purity, Honor, and Patriotism). The following received those awards: Kyle
Perkins (Silence), HD Hibbard (Charity), Benjamin Pody (Purity), Dillon Miller
(Honor), and Andrew Ek (Patriotism). The final two awards are the Gentleman
and Heart Beneath his Vest awards. The Gentleman award is given to the
brother whom shows the most respect to his brothers, friends, and female
colleagues. The Heart Beneath his Vest award is given to a brother whom
contributes most to the fraternity without necessarily being in a leadership role.
Bruce Logue received the Gentleman award, and Sam Green the Heart Beneath
his Vest award.
Athletics
During the spring semester, the chapter’s intramural teams had superb
seasons. The indoor soccer team went undefeated in the regular season (2-0) and
breezed through the playoffs before ultimately losing the championship game on
a last minute goal to Alpha Tau Omega. The team would finish the season with
a record of (5-1). The success the team had this past semester only means great
things are coming for our outdoor soccer team this fall. The 4v4 flag football
team also had a tremendous season. The team had a last second touchdown
victory against ZBT and an impressive semifinal win over Sig Ep.
Unfortunately the boys lost a tough back and forth game versus Chi Phi in the
championship game. Finally, the chapter put together its first floor hockey team
in its inaugural season. The team finished the regular season with one tie and
one loss. The chapter is very proud to have made it to two championship games
this past spring and are looking to come back strong this fall. We will open our
intramural season with outdoor soccer and 7v7 flag football.
