Harnessing the
POWERFUL TECHNOLOGY
of nature.
• QuickRoots ® – a microbial seed inoculant for a range of
crops. QuickRoots can help improve uptake and availability
of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which can support
root and shoot growth and help maximize yield potential.
• Activonate ® – an easy-to-use, water-soluble biofungicide for
the diversified specialty crops market that effectively protects
against many common foliar and soil-borne diseases.
Within the pages of this 2016 Product Guide you’ll learn
more about these and the other microbial solutions that
Monsanto BioAg offers to help protect and maximize yield
potential. But as exciting as these products are, the future
holds even more promise.
Monsanto BioAg is the commercial arm of the BioAg Alliance
that Monsanto and Novozymes formed in early 2014. The
BioAg Alliance brings together Novozymes’ and Monsanto’s
capabilities within microbial discovery, development, and
production. The BioAg Alliance is dedicated to fundamentally
enhancing the research and development of naturally derived
microbial technologies to significantly increase productivity
of the world’s crops for the benefit of agriculture, consumers,
the environment and society at large.
Together, the BioAg Alliance partners are committed to
discovering and developing transformational products that
have the potential of delivering statistically significant yield
increases in a robust and consistent manner, independent of
soil and weather conditions.
A critical aspect of this development effort is the ongoing
commitment Monsanto and Novozymes have made in supporting
a massive and unprecedented field-testing initiative.
It began in 2014, when the BioAg Alliance partners tested
hundreds of microbial strains in 170,000 field plots across
70 U.S. locations. The scope more than doubled in 2015,
and both partners have made a multi-year commitment to
testing thousands of microbial strains over hundreds of
thousands of yield plots.
This large-scale testing – outside the lab and in the field, over
a broad range of soil and environmental conditions – promises
to play a key role in identifying and producing new microbial
solutions that have the greatest potential to deliver transformational
results for growers and the industry as a whole.
the powerful technology of nature at MonsantoBioAg.com.
The growth of strong,
healthy plants relies
on many things – smart
planning, good seed genetics,
timely planting, and ideal
weather, just to name a few.
But one nearly invisible – and thus
often overlooked – factor is the role
microbes play in the life of plants.
Microbes are tiny, naturally occurring microorganisms,
and the soil is teeming with them.
In fact, one gram of soil can contain up to 10 billion
microbes, and as many as 30,000 different microbial species.
These microorganisms, living in close and often symbiotic
relationships with plants, make up the plants’ microbiome.
Microbial products are made from microbes that can work
alone or complement traditional methods of plant production
and protection. They can offer real benefits to growers, like improving
crop nutrient uptake, providing disease protection and
insect control, and ultimately protecting and maximizing yield.
Microbes are a powerful,
natural technology, and
Monsanto BioAg – as the
innovation leader in the
marketplace – is committed
to harnessing this technology
to provide microbial-based
sustainable solutions that help
farmers produce more with less. This
commitment begins with our current portfolio
of leading, natural biological solutions including:
• TagTeam ® LCO – a MultiAction ® inoculant for soybeans
and other legumes that combines the proven performance
of the LCO (lipochitooligosaccharide) molecule with the
phosphate-solubilizing benefits of Penicillium bilaii, and a
specially selected rhizobia inoculant.
• Optimize ® – a dual-action inoculant for soybeans and
other legumes that contains a specially selected rhizobia
and the LCO molecule to help increase nitrogen fixation
and enhance nutrient uptake.
