The Story Behind The Player<br />
Jimmy Gavin's story is one of incredible perseverance, determination, and triumph<br />
over unimaginable adversity. He has proven that he is a leader and elite-level college<br />
basketball player ready to make an immediate impact in the <strong>NBA</strong>.<br />
After scoring over 1000 points in two seasons in NCAA D2, leading his team to their<br />
best record in school history and averaging 25 points over the final 6 games, Jimmy<br />
decided to make the jump to NCAA D1. In his first D1 season at Winthrop, Jimmy<br />
produced at a higher volume and efficiency and improved his performance across the<br />
board. He led the team in assists while increasing his 3-point percentage and 3s made,<br />
proving to be a selfless playmaker and highly efficient long-range scorer.<br />
Jimmy has developed an indomitable will and mental toughness, paired with an innate<br />
competitiveness that he has displayed through his ability to focus on the process,<br />
adjust, and dominate every challenge. Jimmy has tremendous respect for the game,<br />
a high basketball IQ, and adept knowledge of team concepts and play.<br />
2015-16: As Team Captain, Jimmy led Winthrop Men's Basketball Team to a 23-9 record<br />
and a Big South Regular Season Championship. Jimmy was also a 1st Team All-Big South<br />
selection and Big South All-Tournament Team selection.
