Shakira Isabel Mebarak
Ripoll was born in Barranquilla
in February 2nd, 1977. She is a
songwriter, discographic
producer, dancer, fashion
designer, entrepreneur,
actress, UNICEF’s goodwill
ambassador and
philanthropist. She’s the couple
of Gerard Piqué, an Spanish
soccer player, with which she
has two children, Milan and
Sasha.
She became the second
woman alive most
awarded and the third in
the history.
She has already won two
Grammy Awards, six Billboard
Music Awards, four American
Music Awards and ten Latin
Grammy, among others. The
Live Nation Company considers
her the most important artist
of her generation because of
her global impact and
considers her as one of the
most important artists of the world. She’s one of the singers that earns most
money and she’s among the 100 most influential women of the planet.
Anyway, Shakira has left Colombia’s name high.
Her best-known songs are “Loca”, “Ciega, Sordomuda”, “Waka, Waka (This is
Africa)”, “Whenever, wherever”, among others.

His complete name is Carlos
Alberto Vives Restrepo. He
was born in Santa Marta in
August 7th, 1961. He’s a
singer, actor and songwriter.
He’s very famous in Colombia,
Latin America and other parts
of the world for mixing
Colombian music like
“vallenato” and “cumbia” with
pop and rock. He has won two
Grammy Awards and he´s nine
times winner of the Latin
Grammy Awards.
He has the record of the
biggest number of
nominations in the Latin
Grammy. He also was the first
Colombian artist nominated
to a Grammy Award of the
American Academy.
His best-known songs are “Volví a nacer”, “Fruta fresca”, “La tierra del
olvido” and others.
He was married to Margarita Rosa de Francisco, their love lasted only two
years; but in 1990, he met Herlinda Gómez, the woman that years later
became the mother of his two beloved children. Let me tell you people that
Colombia is so proud of this man; he has shown to the entire world the
amazing talent that we have in Colombia.

Juan Esteban Aristizábal
Vásquez was born in
August 9th, 1972 in
Medellin, Antioquia.
He’s married with Karen
Martínez, a Colombian
actress, who also is the
mother of his 3 children.
When he was a child, his
father and siblings
taught him to play the
guitar. His artistic name
is the match of his first
name and the first
syllable of his second
name.
At 15 age, he started his
musical career with a
band called
“Ekhymosis”, he
obtained with them
recognition in the rock scene.
In 1999, he goes to Miami looking for a musical producer for his album as a
soloist. There he met Gustavo Santaolalla and Fernán Martínez, his manager.
Many of his songs has sounded all over the world, such as “Volverte a ver”,
“Para tu amor”, “A Dios le pido”, “La camisa negra”, “La Tierra”, among
others.
He has won 21 Latin Grammy Awards and 2 Grammy Awards, among others.
Juanes is colombian pride.

Diomedes Díaz Maestre
was born in La junta, San
juan del Cesar in May
26th, 1957 and he died in
Valledupar in December
22th, 2013. He was a
singer and songwriter of
“música vallenata”; his
nickname was “El
Cacique de la Junta”. His
life was marked by ups
and downs and problems
with the law.
His fame crossed the
entire continent from
Colombia to USA and
even Europe!
The notice of his death
shocked the world left everyone with a big empty in their hearts.
In 2010, Diomedes won a Grammy in the category of “Vallenato y Cumbia”.
He's also best- known for the big quantity of children he has, ¡almost 30
children!...and maybe more.
Family instability, controversy friends, alcohol, drugs and accidents marked
his personal life...and mainly, the weird circumstances of the death of his
wife, Doris Adriana Niño; but we have to admit that his talent was even
bigger than all his troubles.

The
“Grupo
Niche” is a group
of salsa, founded
in 1979 in Bogotá
by Jairo Varela
and Alexis Lozano.
Varela was the
director of the
group till his death
in 2012, as well as
its producer,
songwriter and vocalist. Alexis Lozano, who played the trombone and also was
the music arranger, left the group to form the Guayacán Orchestra. The “Grupo
Niche” is considered one of the most importants groups of Salsa in America.
The first album of “Group Niche” was launch in 1979, with Jairo Varela and
Alexis Lozano as directors. Lozano on the trombone and on the arrangements,
on the piano was Nicolás Cristancho, Francisco García on the bass, Luis Pacheco
on the conga drum and the singers were Jorge Bazán, Saulo Sánchez and
Héctor Viveros.
In 1984, they became the main group of Salsa in Colombia, thanks to the
arrangements they did to the song “Cali Pachanguero”, a tribute to the
“Worldwide Capital of Salsa”.
Their best- known for their fast and rigorous dance’s music and also for
romantic songs pretty much slower. Among their best- known hits, there are
“Cali Ají”, “Del Puente p’allá”, “Sin sentimiento”, “Gotas de lluvia”, among
others.

Andrés Cepeda Cediel is one of the best-known artists of the Latin American
music scene. He was
born in Bogotá in
July 7th, 1973. This
romantic songwriter,
winner of the Latin
Grammy, has been
wowing his audience
with his hits year
after year since his
career began in
1990.
Cepeda finds in love
the perfect excuse
to use different
musical genres and
to play lyrics of high
emotional content.
In the school years, Andrés found in the Rock in Spanish’s movement an
invitation to begin to compose, where the idea of create a band with his
friends came to his mind. In 1990, he started “Poligamia” with his
adolescence´s friends, a rock band that lasted 8 years.
Once dissolved the band, Cepeda continued his career as a soloist, launching
his first album “Sé morir”; this album marked the beginning of a successful
career and positioned him as a romantic artist, more close to rhythms like
pop, bolero and ballad.
