<strong>2015</strong> highlights<br />

The Marketing department focuses on creating strategies that support business development initiatives within the areas of Business<br />

Retention and Expansion, Business Attraction, and Entrepreneurship. Marketing and advertising strategies are aimed at enhancing business<br />

development and promoting the Windsor-Essex region. Strategic programs and activities were developed within the following areas:<br />

integrated marketing and advertising campaigns, event management, sponsorships, media and public relations, collateral materials, and<br />

communication through social media channels including video and corporate websites. Marketing is also responsible for maintaining brand<br />

standards across all media.<br />

Advertising<br />

Marketing develops strategic advertising campaigns to leverage our<br />

business development programs to reach target markets. Additionally, we<br />

actively negotiate opportunities that provide in-kind editorial interviews<br />

to deliver our message about the region.<br />

• Re-purposed key sector sell sheets into ads for placement in prominent<br />

industry magazines such as Expansion Solutions, f Di Magazine,<br />

Perspective: Advanced Manufacturing <strong>2015</strong> Edition, CTMA ‘The View’<br />

Magazine, APMA ‘Lead, Reach and Connect’ Magazine, Site Selection<br />

Magazine.<br />

• Advertising via social media to reach regional, national and international<br />

markets such as the United States, Germany and the United Arab<br />

Emirates.<br />

• A regional Facebook advertising campaign for Small Business Centre.<br />

Public Relations<br />

In <strong>2015</strong>, we proactively identified events and sponsorship with speaking<br />

opportunities that met target markets and provided maximum exposure<br />

for the Corporation. Examples include:<br />

• Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association Conference<br />

• Athena Awards Luncheon<br />

• Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards<br />

• Leamington Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards<br />

Media Relations<br />

Media relations is an integral part of daily activities for the Marketing<br />

department. Media interactions included: developing media releases and<br />

media events, announcements for new investments, daily media scanning,<br />

coaching and working with clients, media interviews as well as interacting<br />

with media for interviews.<br />
