Getting parents to attend: Getting parents to come
to school for classes and feel welcome is part of the
cultural barrier that prevents attendance. The RAD
kit helps with that too by providing strategies and
tools for getting even the most hard-to-reach parents
to attend. As RAD has now recruited and graduated
over 35,000 parents, leaders find that when using
the tools provided, they CAN get parents to attend
and once there, parents are hooked and want even
more classes! After graduation, many parents continue
to gather and share their dreams and strategies
for improving their child’s achievement.
From parent graduates of the RAD Program:
“With this important information, we are more
confident and prepared to motivate, inspire
and guide our children to success. Thank you
for allowing us to be a part of such an awesome
program.”
“We learned how to handle each academic
step in our children’s education and how to
work actively with the school.”
“We learned how the education system works
and what our children need to do to graduate
high school and go to college.”
“Before this program, many of us thought that
life would never change, but today we know
that we can all change our destinies because
knowledge is power. Thank you for believing in
us as parents.”
NEW peer-reviewed research concludes:
“The RAD Program helps schools get parents effectively
involved for students’ academic success by
successfully translating the Hoover-Dempsey &
Sandler Model on Parent Involvement into practice.
RAD impacts parents’ beliefs about the role they
play in their child’s education, enhances parents’
knowledge of U.S. public education school system
and also influences parents’ behaviors, specifically:
home-school communication and home-based support
for academic skill development, and basic parenting
skills (communication, discipline). Post-RAD
behaviors were a function of newly acquired
knowledge and beliefs, not family demographics.”
The American Dream for all: RAD is the most versatile,
comprehensive, ready-to-implement research-based
parent engagement program available. With it, your
school/district can be on the path to increasing test
scores, having higher achieving students, decreasing
dropout rates and boosting achievement for all but
especially those in vulnerable subgroups.
