This is the second year for our new,<br />

FREE and very cool event for the<br />

whole family. Spend all or part of<br />

a day outside at the refuge while<br />

trying out a whole bunch of fun,<br />

healthy activities including archery<br />

target shooting, kayaking, surf<br />

fishing, nature photography, and<br />

bird watching. There will also be<br />

a variety of nature-based crafts and<br />

activities for younger kids. While<br />

event “activity stations” will be<br />

located both at the visitor center<br />

and on the national wildlife refuge,<br />

we recommend that you begin your<br />

event experience at the visitor center.<br />

ART WALK<br />

The Newburyport art community<br />

will collectively open its doors with<br />

special exhibits, artist discussions,<br />

painting demonstrations and more<br />

during the second ArtWalk of 20<strong>16</strong><br />

on Saturday, June 18 from 11-6<br />

p.m. Take a leisurely self-guided tour<br />

that winds through Newburyport’s<br />

historic downtown to more than 20<br />

galleries and partner sites that are<br />

celebrating the beauty and culture<br />

of the North Shore. The public is<br />

invited to join in on ArtWalk’s free<br />

events, browse a variety of artwork<br />

in traditional and contemporary<br />

styles, shop, dine, and soak in all<br />

that the Cultural District has to<br />

offer. Future 20<strong>16</strong> ArtWalk dates<br />

are August 20th and November 5th.<br />

In addition, there are spontaneous<br />

individual gallery and group pop-up<br />

Coloring for Relaxation at the<br />

Rowley Library, Mondays started<br />

on June 13th. Coloring isn’t just<br />

for kids! It can be good for adults,<br />

too, helping us to de-stress and also<br />

stimulating brain areas related to<br />

motor skills, the senses and creativity.<br />

And it’s fun! Drop in Mondays<br />

between 6-8 pm to give it a try. The<br />

Rowley Public Library is located<br />

FULL MOON HIKE AND<br />

SOLSTICE SUNSET SALUTE<br />

A very special Summer Solstice<br />

Full Moon Hike! We’ll start the<br />

evening watching the sun set on this<br />

longest day of the year, then head<br />

into the dunes for a hike under the<br />

Full Strawberry Moon. Local Native<br />

American tribes knew this moon as a<br />

signal to gather ripening fruit. We’ll<br />

welcome the arrival of summer with<br />

a snack involving fresh strawberries<br />

and a celebratory bonfire at the<br />
