acts of kindness, showing once
again how amazing and exceptional
this city is!
JUNE 10 More than
600 Winnipeggers shared a
meal and their ideas for a
better Winnipeg — ideas
that help guide United Way’s
priorities for a new 2016-
2019 strategic plan.
1995 United Way launches Day of
Caring program to match volunteer
groups with hands-on projects at local
nonprofit organizations. Last year more
than 1500 volunteers gave almost 6000
hours of caring.
1999 Journey Forward initivative
engages Winnipeggers and creates
the foundation for United Way
to be a community-connected,
community-directed organization.
2004 The Aboriginal Task
Group releases Eagle’s Eye View,
the first ever environmental scan
of the Indigenous communities in
Winnipeg. A staff position dedicated
to Indigenous Relations is
created.

1991 United Way Winnipeg, the

Canada review programs and services
serving Winnipeg’s inner-city youth.
1998 Winnipeggers cross a
historic milestone, raising
more than $10 million in a
single campaign year.
2001 An Aboriginal
Task Group gathers and
establishes United Way’s
Aboriginal Relations Strategy.
