KARACHI, Jun 17:
Muhammad Taimoor
earned the distinction of
striking the first century in
the fourth edition of Naya
Nazimabad Ramazan Cup
Cricket Tournament as Sui
Southern Gas Company
(SSGC) crushed hapless
Medicam Cricket Club by
121 runs here at the Lawai
Stadium.
Taimoor bludgeoned a
record dozen sixes and five
boundaries in his hurricane
58 balls knock while Asif
Zakir cracked 58 runs off
31 balls with nine boundaries
and brace of sixes.
Sent to bat first, SSGC
constructed a massive 238
runs for the loss of four
wickets in 20 overs.
FRANCE, Jun 17: Italy
moved into the knockout
stages of Euro 2016 and continued
to defy their doubters
as Eder scored two minutes
from fulltime to secure a 1-0
win over a shot-shy and unadventurous
Sweden on Friday.
Eder ended a great run by
firing home to move Italy
clear at the top of Group E on
six points after two matches
following their 2-0 victory
over Belgium in their opening
encounter.
The result left Sweden in
an uncomfortable position
with one point after two
games ahead of their final
group clash against Belgium
next week. Sweden were well
organised at the back but
toothless in attack, with their
danger man Zlatan
Ibrahimovic looking a shadow
of his brilliant best and
hardly creating a chance.
Naya Nazimabad Ramazan
Cup Cricket Tournament suffered
another blow when it
went down against NBP by
16 runs here at the Lawai
Stadium on Friday morning.
Former Pakistan captain
Salman Butt, who was
banned for ten years for spotfixing
by the ICC, slammed
63 off 42 balls with the help
of seven boundaries and one
six. But it failed to save his
team from the eventual
defeat. Chasing 170 for victory,
Dollar East could manage
153 after losing seven
wickets in 20 overs. Faheem
Ashraf grabbed two wickets.
Earlier, NBP captain
Kamran Akmal hit 48 off 31
balls with five fours and two
sixes to win the Man of the
Match award.
KARACHI, Jun 17: The ICC
Women's Championship
moves into top gear when
England hosts Pakistan in a
three-ODI series in Leicester
from June 20.
This will be the last series
of round five of seven, while
the final two rounds will
before the event culminates
in November.
The ICC Women's
July 2017. The top four sides
will automatically qualify
for the event proper to be
staged in England from June
26 to July 23 2017, while the
bottom four sides will get a
final chance of qualification
He says, 'I am honoured to
be named in the running to
the Indian Cricket Team. As it
is an extremely high profile
position, the BCCI have
expressed that the candidates
“It was a difficult game,”
Italy coach Antonio Conte
told Rai Sport. “We struggled
both England and Pakistan,
which are currently sitting in
sixth and seventh positions
respectively. England stands
to move up to third if it wins
the series, Pakistan will
jump to fifth if it wins all the
three matches.
Australia leads the field
with 24 points, but the
just four points behind in
second place. New Zealand
is another four points behind
at 16, while South Africa is
on 15 points. Sri Lanka is in
eighth position with just 5
with 16 dismissals.
She believed Pakistan's
improved performance at the
ICC World Twenty20 in
India, where it won two out
of four matches compared
with just one win in 2014,
marked a move in the right
direction.
“We were extremely
close to making it three wins
out of four in India.
“The Pakistan team now
has a reputation of giving
extra tough times to big
teams and we really enjoy
living up to this reputation.
Apart from the top two
teams in the table, no team is
in a position to definitely
KARACHI, Jun 17: Day-night Test is the
future of cricket’s longest format but the
boards should not rush it, according to
New Zealand pace great Richard Hadlee.
Australia played the first daynight
Test against New Zealand at
Adelaide Oval last November and
have agreed another floodlit match
with South Africa at the same venue
during the home summer.
The concept has found ready takers in
south Asia with India trialling pink balls
and Pakistan agreeing to play a floodlit
Test in Brisbane in December.
“You try, it is the game of the future.
Probably one Test in a series is fair
enough,” Hadlee Said.
“I think most people like to see the
traditional format during the day.” The
languages but having spent a
lot of time on the sub continent,
you learn how to pick
up the mood of the conversation
and determine the feelings
of the group or individual
by observation", Law
said. Law has worked with
the national teams in Sri
Lanka and Bangladesh.
"The majority of words
used to talk about cricket are
English, so it can be a little
easier to communicate to
players that aren’t comfortable
speaking English".
Day-night Test future of cricket’s longest format: Richard Hadlee
durability of the pink kookaburra ball
and the dew factor in India have raised
doubts about the future of a floodlit Test
in the country.
Hadlee said the players must get
ample practice before such a contest.
“It is important for the players to have
practice games; you cannot ask them to
go out there and ask them to play a daynight
game against the pink ball.
Late Eder goal sends Italy through to last 16
Eder’s late intervention.
Sweden coach Erik
Hamren had criticised their
lack of attacking vitality following
their opening 1-1
draw with Ireland, and while
there was an improvement in
their overall performance,
Ibrahimovic once again
failed to provide a cutting
edge and live up to his
“We were much better
than the Italians for periods,
but we didn’t create really
dangerous chances,” Sweden
midfielder Albin Ekdal told
Swedish broadcaster SVT.
Sweden are still without a
shot on target at the tournament,
although Martin
Olsson proved a menacing
threat down the left, sending
an effort just over the bar on
18 minutes having set the
tone with an early cross that
prompted a nervous clearance
from Giorgio Chiellini.
