popular Glinda and a
misunderstood green girl
named Elphaba.

develop into their full
potential.
Elphaba is bullied when she
first arrives at Shiz University,
as people don’t
understand why she is
green, and they don’t like
her because she is
different.
Key message: The
importance of
acceptance and being
understanding to others
despite the differences.

Elphaba is a naturally
good judge of character
and has a caring nature,
revealed through her love
of animals and the
support she gives to her
sister Nessarose, a
wheelchair user
Key message: Don’t make
a wrong judgement or
discriminate others based
on a first impression and
without knowing them in
person.
Both the main characters,
Elphaba and Glinda have
very strong ambitions. In
the song, “The Wizard and
I”, Elphaba sings about
how she will strive to
“make good” in order to
work
with him.
Key message: Students will
think about what they will
like to achieve in life and
how they might need to
make sacrifices in order to
realise their ambitions.
